GYM IS OPEN (WEEKEND)!

The gym is open, come on in! I was feeling really grumpy about my slow weight loss until yesterday, when I decided to quit moaning about it and do something productive. I dusted off my "Sit and Tone" video, dragged out the 2-lb arm weights, and went for it. It's 20 minutes worth of exercises that are deceptively rigorous. It felt pretty good. I did this yesterday, and also this morning. I just might go for a short walk today, the weather is very nice here in CO. What are you doing (or did you do) to move your body this weekend? Kix

Hey hon Good for you for taking charge like that! It's hard getting motivated sometimes, isn't it. I've been completely blah the past two weeks and I am finally trying to move a little more. Yesterday I did my little aerobics tape but then last night I went to the CU vs Air Force basketball game and ended up doing MANY flights of stairs. Good grief, they really want you to work for the game! But I did pretty well, was a little out of breath but was able to get up all the thousands of steps. There is no way I could of done that before surgery! Today I plan on doing one of my aerobics tapes as well - I pulled out one of my old ones with Kathy Smith (complete with big hair, head bands and leg warmers) and plan on trying it today. We'll see how long I last

Were the seats more comfortable as a post-op? You mentioned prior to surgery that you were eager to be able to sit at the games without inflicting great bodily harm on yourself! My sibling and I were over in your neck of the woods (well, sort of, we were at Wallymart over on Bowles) and while she ran in to get the new version of Monopoly, I sat out on the bench and enjoyed the sun. I love to people watch, and I guess I have an approachable face because people always chat with me as they walk by. I also enjoying hearing people's comments about the huge snowglobe displayed outside -- people would look at it and go, "Oh, that's so neat!" then they'd see the price tag and shout, "$300 bucks?!!!!" I should have gone inside and given Wally a report on my informal research -- if you want to sell any of those, lower the price. When my sibling came out of Wally's, I walked from the bench to the car without my walker. It made her nervous; she wanted me to hold her arm. I didn't need to hold her arm. What I need is about $10,000 worth of lipo to suck out all this darn thigh fat! If I could get rid of it, I could walk unassisted without being off balance. Naturally, the weight comes off every other part of my body first. Congrats on climbing all those steps! That's a big deal! Kix

You know what we should invent? A "do it yourself" lipo machine - people could go to Walmart and come out with thinner thighs I think it would be a hit! I had no idea the globe thing was $300! Dang, that's how much I plan to spend on Christmas presents (we're a cheap family ) The seats were more comfortable at the CU arena, but we had our opening game at the AF arena a week ago Friday and while it was better, it was still tight. I was kind of disappointed, I figured 44 pounds would make more of a difference! I think that was why I have been kind of blah - the last time I was at this weight I fit much better and I assumed it would be the same. I think I need to chill out and be happy that my clothes are loose! Take care of yourself hon, and keep up with those weights - I'm so proud of you!!

Yesterday I had some time to kill while I had my satellite radio installed in my car (best purchase I have ever made) so I walked up to the mall. It was about 1/2 mile each way, and it included a big hill I had to walk up and down where the street I was on goes over the freeway. Today I hit the gym and did 10 min. on the bike, 30 on the elliptical and then 15 on the treadmill, followed by weight training of my chest, arms, shoulders and abs. jacie

Kix, Sounds great! That is what I do when I get bummed about my lack of weight loss too! I guess, if I know I'm doing all I can and the lbs still don't move, then I at least know I'm doing what I can! You are such an inspiration!!!! Lori
