am looking for a sugar cookie recipe. I want to make some sugar cookies with icing for our christmas party Saturday. I have been given losts of good recipes. Thank you. But I still need a sugar cookie one. I want the fluffy kind that I can make stars or such out of. And that I can icing. I need the recipe for icing too. You know like the ones that buylow sales already made. I know I can make them I have seen other people make them. Can someone give me a good recipe.? I dont want the flat sugar cookies as they are too hard. And this doesnt have to be sugar free. As it is for the grandkids. I have looked in my recipes but I cant tell one sugar cookie from the other. Please help! How do I get a nice fluffy sugar cookie?

Hey Rie, Making cookies was such fun this last weekend. The ones we made were sugar cookies and were so soft as long as you dont walk away from the oven. Lol... Cant over cook one minute or will know it. About them being fluffy and sugar??? I dont know so much about that problem but you make them fluffy by making them thicker usually. Try that with one of the sugar recipes. Or let me know and ill give you mine. We put different sprinkles on them and also christmas m&m's. God I used to love m&m's (peanut) ugh.... Hope this helps. And as far as the icing goes... Take 10x powdered sugar and add a small amout of water or milk to the sugar and it makes a paste. You can add colors to it also. Makes it as thin or thick as you want... I have been making walnut brownies, and also shortbread cookies rolled in powdered sugar. They were so pretty. This week I am making chocolate pretzels and buck eyes ( peanut butter, powdered sugar and butter and make balls and roll in melted chocolate). Other words. Homeade reese's sorta. My bunch love them. And have red velvet cakes to make also... So happy baking Rie!! Hugs Marge

I know this is cheating....but... Here is how I do them, I get the Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie mix and add additional flour (can't remember what else it calls for), it tells you on the back of the package what extra to add if you are using a cookie cutter. I usually cook the cookies about 2 or 3 days before I decorate them, I store them in an airtight container in the freezer, for some reason it seems to help keep them moist and chewey. To decorate I use the butter cream icing and tent it with food coloring....the more food coloring the brighter the icing. I hope my family doesn't read this......they think I make them from scratch Have fun decorating! Jen
