You might try calling the weight loss center at Emory University. While they may not be able to help you with the Medicare, they should have referrals for you to look into all over the state. Just don't give up....your miracle is out there. Another suggestion is to go thru all the before and after pictures on the Obesity help site. Look specifically for the state and at the bottom of each profile it tells their insurance (including Medicare). Their doctor's name will be listed as well. It is lousy we have to work so hard to get the help that is there, but giving up cannot be the answer. You are a child of the universe and you have a right to be here....can't remember where that came from, but you really have a purpose on this planet.

I hope your friend has good luck in finding a surgeon soon. I did not know it would be a headache like this when I started my journey so long ago. I only wish to find someone out there that really cares about the patients instead of loving the money more. It is a hard road to find.
