Where are u at in your weight loss?
I feel as if I am losing so slow. I am down about 97 pds at 10 months out. I am having to work harder. I can eat just about anything and am fine with it. I thought this was suppose to be a lifestyle change. Why do I feel as if I am still dieting. It seems as if everyone else around me can eat whatever they want and I have to eat practically nothing to lose weight. My aunt had this surgery and she eats junk all the time. And she never exercises. I have to exercise all the time. What am I doing wrong. I still have 60 to 70 pds to lose and I am verly losing anything.
Rie Rie,
Please take this time to learn better eating habits! I was like your aunt and could eat absolutely anything without a problem. Eating junk food didnt effect my weight loss for some reason so it was very easy for me to fall into bad habits. Now is a different story and its so hard on me. If I dont eat right and stick to the plan then I gain 5-10lbs in a week... I bounce between 135-145 and cant seem to get my weight stable.. Im not complaining, please dont think that I am... Im perfectly happy when I weigh 145, thats a huge difference coming from 328! But I have had to relearn how to eat.. I should have been retraining my mind the whole time and then it wouldnt be such a struggle now. Just because you see some people eating whatever they want doesnt mean that they will keep the weight off. It can come back if you fall back into old habits. This doesnt mean everyone will gain back either.. Its just not worth the risk! For me it would be heartbreaking if I gained back even half of what I lost.... Your doing the right thing as far as exercise and eating right... Just keep in mind that slow and steady wins the race! You might be losing slower then some, but your still losing faster then you did without the surgery...
Try to find good foods that dont feel like a "diet".. Ice cream was my downfall.. Whenever DH had ice cream it broke my heart.. So I found a cookies and cream protein powder, mix a little s/f ice cream, crush a s/f cookie and I have myself a blizzard like drink!! Yummy!! thats my personal treat to myself.. But I was a dairy queen junkie before surgery.... There are plenty of good foods out there for us that dont feel like a diet... You just need to explore and find them... Post op life doesnt have to be a diet..
Good luck, and be proud of those 97lbs! Youve earned each and every pound you lost!

hi rie rie:
i'll second all of what has already been said. this, after all, is YOUR journey. it will be unique for you and it's ok if it's different. you've done very well for 10 months, girl. i hope you take this last couple months before your 'window' closes to figure out what you can substitute for what you're really missing. you're getting exercise - a very good thing. and just because you've still got 60 or 70 lbs to lose doesn't mean failure. it just means you're losing it slowly. theoretically that means it will probably stay off. so hang in there, hun. try to not compare yourself to anyone but you. the year you've had has been challenging but wonderful, right? try to remember how far you've come.
and in the meantime, have a wonderful christmas and an excellent new year.
hugs
dorthe
Rie Rie,
Please don't pay any attention to how other are losing weight your journey is special all in itself. I am someone who can eat just about anything and i will be glad when the Holidays are over so I can stop with the cake in the house thing and candy. I try to give myself one treat per day so I don't feel like I am depriving myself. But I get in all of my protien and water. Watch the water I remember when I was on weigh****chers i stop drinking water and started gaining weight I think it is the key. I am trying to get in atleast 64 oz of water per day not counting everything else I drink. You will make your goal just stay strong and keep going. You have an 18 month window were the weight will still be coming off rather fast so don't worry it will happen for you. I to start to wonder if I will make it i still have another 136 to 156 pounds to lose and it seems like such a big number so I started looking at 10 to 25 pounds right now I am trying to stay at 10 pounds per month it has been working so far I wi**** was more but it will come.
keep your head up everything will work out.

Hey Rie Rie,
I just wanted to answer your post here... Its like this Rie... You didnt gain your weight like anyone else and you arent gonna lose like anyone else for sure. I personally could walk by a walmart bakery and deli and smile at the cooks and gain weight. Lol... Number one... Never get to reading others stories and think you can compare yourself to theres. It would be really nice to lose like some others do but that aint gonna happen. We all started out different and will finish different for sure. So you just do the best you can and dont worry about getting to the main goal. Take it a step at a time and you will get there...
Hugs Marge
Hi Rie Rie -
I felt compelled to post to you because I think we've all felt like this at one time or another. Remember they did surgery on our tummies not our brains so it's so hard to break all those bad habits. Also, try to think of eating healthy food as good for the "insides" of your body (heart, organs, circulatory system, etc) not just for losing weight.
Even skinny people can be unhealthy because of what they eat. I also want to desperately lose the rest of this weight (about 100 to go - lost 115 so far) and I will with determination, faith and help from everyone here.
You are going to make it. Congrats on your awesome success so far. By the way, I haven't lost any wt. in 4 weeks. You're not alone, we all feel this way periodically. Hang tough sister.
