i know it's not easy, phil. try to get yourself in the habit, though, of drinking lots of liquids to help feel fuller. in your case - since you're craving salt - i'd try broths. and finding something to do with your boredom (spending less time eating) will also help you post-op. exercise if you're able. or hobbies. if you think of the pre op diet as perhaps the last big hoop to jump through it might be a little easier. and then hold on for the ride of your life. the journey never ceases to amaze me. good luck dorthe

Phil, It will be so worth it! I really suffered while I was going through the pre-op diet, just now at 151 lbs less, I know how it was worth it. And the fact that I shrank my liver insured that I could have my surgery laproscopically, which made recovery easier. My only suggestion is to drink so much fluids you think you'll burst...it will help. Big hugs! Lori 384/237/199

Hey Phil, Bless your heart. I know first hand like most of us do what its like to try to buckle down like that before surgery. It is one of the hardest things of all ugh.... The best thing for pretty quick weightloss is protein drinks.... There are alot of flavors out there though that taste about up there with battery acid ugh...So maybe you can find one that you really like. I know it is so hard to do all this right before surgery. Seems like the closer mine got the more I wanted to eat... But try to hang in there and stay busy all that you can so wont be tempted to look for other foods that are nono's.Or when the feeling**** to eat something at night try to have something that is really low in fat and calories to drink. But liquids will be the way to go to fill you up if only for a short while. If all else fails go to bed maybe earlier lol... Sorry cant help more... But totally feel for ya.... Hugs Marge

Phil, You CAN do this for 8 days. Although it may feel like the longest 8 days of your life, it will be worth it. Think of it as investment in your future health. Follow the other posters' suggestions on filling up with fluids. Also, this type of diet helps shrink your liver, giving you a better shot at a laproscopic surgery, which has a much faster, easier recovery. You absolutely CAN do this for 8 days Kellie
