Finally home and on the mend
Thanks for everyone who prayed for me when I had surgery Dec. 20. I have had a rough go, but am beginning to feel a little stronger each day. My spleen cracked during surgery due to previous gall bladder surgery scar tissue, resulting in the need to get 5 units of blood. I stayed in the hospital 9 days before coming home. My daughter. who is 30 and who I live with, had surgery last year on Dec 21, so she has been a huge help to me. In addition to not being able to keep my hemoglobin level up to an adequate level, they did not give me my water pill while I was in the hospital. By the time the error was caught, I went from 353 the day of surgery up to 390! Trying to get around in pain, being weak, and so terribly swollen was horrible. As of today's weight, I am down to 347. I think the combination of a water pill every other day and no more IV fluid has made the huge difference. So far I have a happy pouch and am just trying to get used to getting in the things I need. Each day I am getting in a little more. As I have strength I will try to read the old posts and find out what everyone has been up to. I want to find out about Lori's trip and all the snow that Kix and PJ have had in CO. Hugs to you all. Karen
Bless your heart Karen,
I know you have had a terrible time huh? But maybe the worse is over now and you can take time to heal and get ready for a ride of your life (seat belt needed) lol... I know sometimes things happen to us when we dont expect it but it just makes us stronger in the end. So you get to feeling better and dont overdo it and get to posting and no lurking aloud!!!! Lol
Hugs Marge
The day I had surgery, mine was delayed from 10:30 AM until 1:30 PM because the person having surgery just before me had all sorts of surgical issues occur during and after surgery. Mine went well and without any complications at all. It really is the luck of the draw, isn't it? Glad to hear you are on the mend.
I know what you mean about hospital IVs -- I gained six lbs in the hospital during my last three-day stay for recurring cellulitis. Happily, I have managed to get rid of the excess fluid -- now all I need to do is get rid of the cellulitis once and for all!
The snow (how I hate that word!) is starting to melt a bit, but we are expecting another storm on Friday. The weather dudes promise it won't be a bad one this time, but I don't believe them any more!
