Just curious. I am usually on the Jan-06 board. I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary and am so stressing out about the weight I have lost. I started out at 433 and now weigh 276 I have lost 156 lbs. I am so worried about my surgeon saying something like I am not using this surgery as I should. Any tips? Any advice? Am I nuts? I want to try to compare myself to others that started out as high as I did. Thanks! ~Norma

HI Norma, I know I am not in the group that you wanted a reply from but thought my input might help. I started at 361 and at my 1 year appointment had lost 162 pounds. My Dr. was thrilled as yours should be also. You have done wonderful. I know it is hard to see the forrest for the trees sometimes but enjoy how far you have come now. I think you are doing just great. Keep up the great work and know that you sound like you are using your tool like a champ. Jennifer 361 / 186 / Healthy

Yes I was over 400 pounds and I have currently lost around 123 pounds. I don't know what your doctor is talking about but you have done a wonderful job at losing weight. I was told your window is up to 18 months to 2 years so don't worry you will get the rest of that weight off. I know you are coming up on your year but I wouldn't worry about it your doing fine. Norma, I was 413 when I started and 379.5 at DOS(date of surgery). I have lost a total of 188 pounds. The P.A. actually commented that I have done the best out of the patients she has seen since she started with the practice. She used to work with the hospital and saw ALL the bariatric surgery patients. You have done a fantanstic job and should not worry. Remember we are all different and some will lose more than others. I am starting to stress about the REMAINING 50 pounds I want to lose! I know I have to stop the carbs and get back on track. I haven't gained, but I haven't lost much either. Hugs, Janie

hi norma i'm certain you're not nuts! you're doing great. i started at 463, but didn't keep track of where i was along the way. can only tell you that at 2 years out, i currently weigh 187. the loss is extremely slow now. i do know that i made onederland last august, so have only lost 13 lbs. in the last 4-5 months. i repeat, i think you're doing very well! keep up the good work! deb

Norma, I was 417 the day of surgery, and 1 year and 1 month later I am 226. I know how you feel, when I saw the year anniversary coming up I started stressing feeling like my weight loss was over, but that is not true, I am still losing and spoke to my surgeon and she said that I still had plenty of time to lose. You are doing fine, just remember all the rules we learned in the beginning.. I forgot some of those rules over the holidays, so I am getting back on track for the new year. Happy New year Lynn

Norma, Has your surgeon been supportive to you up until this point? I think you are doing great. We all lose at different rates. It is harder for us over 400's as our goal seems so far away. Keep plugging. I started out at 456 in June when I had my surgery. By September I had lost 86 lbs. and completely stopped for a month. I was inconsolable when I went to the follow-up. I then realized when the hell have I ever been able to lose 86 lbs. in 3 months. So ask yourself the same. This is a journey, not a race. Had you not had the surgery you probably would be still in the 400's and miserable. Celebrate you and the major accomplishment that you have done. RAH, RAH FOR NORMA. SHE IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!! Jeanne

Hi Norma. I started out at 408 pounds and now am down 164 pounds. My one year anniversary is tomorrow. I was told that at 1 year out the average weight loss should be about 140 pounds so sounds like you are right on target. I can't imagine your surgeon saying anything but "congratulations". Keep up the good work. Sandra A.
