We got the big snow (a foot) in Magna where I lived, so instead of going to the gym this morning, I shoveled snow for 45 minutes. It gave me an enormous appreciation for what our Colorado and Kansas friends have been going through. Still hoping to make it to the gym after work tonight. What did you do to move your body today? Hey Lori, Today I didn't want to work out i was having this feeling because last night the old Lorraine tired to take over. I was just eating everything in sight and I am not sure why but I did throw the french onion dip away and told my husband. You know for just that moment I was afraid of gaining the weight back. I guess its a good thing that it happened so I could get snapped back into reality. Reality is I can eat chips and dip and think I am going to lose another 129 to 149 pounds to goal. I workout but my eating has to change then on the other had I also do want to deprive myself and then go hide and eat something like I use to either. I don't know, all I do know is after all of that drama in my mind last night I woke up and didn't want to workout at all. I was just laying in bed and fianlly go the strength to get up and go anyway it cost me a 1/2 hour of vacation time because I was late to work but I refuse to stop I have come to far. I did my workout and felt wonderful afterwards I am glad I was able to press through this I am sure it will happen again as I still don't feel like going but atleast I went. 1 1/2 hours consisting of elliptical trainer 66 min, weight training and 125 crunches. I think something in the back of my mind dosen't want to be successful is this crazy or am I the only one that is going through this? Please share I need to find the inner spot to pump myself up again I have been on fire for exercise and I need that back. I still like it just don't want to do it. But you know I will. Lorraine

Lorraine, This is a very common struggle for all of us! I could talk to you about this for quite awhile. If you like, you could email me your phone number and some good times to call and I will call you. I'll tell you the ways I try and keep myself energized. Obesity is a very complex problem. WLS does not fix it and all its facets. It is just a tool... But, I do want you to know that I think you are doing great. You are going to struggle here and there. Also, I have this list of "22 Reasons Why You Might Be Fat Forever". I will type it up. It reminds me of the stuff I sabotage myself with. Big Hugs to you! Lori

An occasional treat is okay, in my opinion. You can't deprive yourself of certain things forever. Anyway, you're doing an awesome job and I know you're gonna do just fine!! Hugs, Tracy

Holy cow, a foot of snow in Magna? That's quite unusual, isn't it? We used to get a lot of snow up on the East Bench, but I don't recall Magna getting hammered like that. Speaking of snow, we are in the middle of another storm. It looks like about six inches' worth in my part of Colorado, which is probably what PJ is getting, too. Lucky for me my visiting nurse was able to get here this morning to change my leg dressing (she has one of those all-wheel drive Suburus). No outside walk for me today (I don't snowshoe!), so I will do some walking around the house. It doesn't feel like real exercise, but any kind of movement is better than nothing. Kix

Actually Kix, Magna tends to get lake effect snow. We didn't even get that much snow yesterday up here at the University! Lori

Yup, I did. I went to Curves and did a double workout for One Hour. Then I walk for about 1 1/2 miles at an outdoor swapmeet. Then I went walking in a plant nursery.

I went to water aerobics for 1 hour, and swam a few extra laps as fast as I could. I also moved lots of junk in my garage to prepare for a new garage door. I think I moved more than a ton of stuff! I'm really liking the water classes. Haven't been in a swimming pool in over 8 years, mostly because I didn't want to be seen in a bathing suit. I loved swimming as a kid/teen, and I'm glad to be back in the pool. Jennie
