I'm new here
Hello. I just wanted to post a quick introduction. I'm Jennie in S. California. I'm waiting for a surgery date. I have had all my consultations and will soon be on my way to surgery. I hope to get my date by the end of next week.
My doctor had wanted me to consider surgery 3 1/2 years ago but I wasn't ready. Last year, I felt impressed by the Lord that I needed to ask my PCP for a referral, and here I am, now ready for surgery. I've been really blessed to have lots of support from my friends and family that I've chosen to tell about surgery. I have NOT told very many people, because I don't want to hear everyone's thoughts on the subject.
I am trusting the Lord to bring me through the process and recovery. I'm excited about my new beginning and am looking forward to the upcoming changes.

Hi Jennie,
Welcome to the board. Congradulations on all the hoop jumping

and now at the final stretch. We are all pulling for you..most of us have all been there too. I try not to forget about all those pre-op feelings.
It's wonderful to live in a time where technology has made it possible for obese folks to get a second chance at living a healthy life..don't you think? I sure hope you get your surgery date this week..you are gonna do just great!!
Hugs and smiles,
Ginger

Welcome Jennie! It was a full 5 years from the time my PCP talked to me about getting the surgery and me finally feeling like I was ready. This surgery takes a high degree of commitment. Between now and your surgery, I highly recommend reading everything you can about it and surviving after the surgery. The more you know, the better you'll do. The fact that you are exercising now is great! It will help you with stamina once you've had your surgery. Then you will need to just take short walks and gradually build up again to regular exercise. Since you love the pool, it will be about 8 weeks before you can go back to it.
Big Hugs,
Lori
