Newbie Here!
Hello Everyone!!! I am new to OH and new to this message board. I am so excited that I found this board!
I have been looking through pages and surfing this website. I've noticed that the majority of the people I come across have "beginning" weights of mid-high 200's. I saw very few people in the 300's and the ones that I saw, the majority of them were at a plateau of the high 100's - low 200's. At almost 5'3 with a BMI over 65, even the high 100's and mid-high 200's is still unhealthy for me. I must say I became slightly discouraged and alone. I then came across this forum, and began looking at your pages. Your stories, your journey, your ups, downs, etc. are so inspiring for me. They give me a realistic depiction of the WLS journey. I commend you all for your success and wish you continued success. I will be having my surgery at the end of this month. I hope that I can get to know some of you better and share in your wealth of knowledge... Again, I am so excited to have found this message board.
Have a great day!!
Sasha,
Glad to have you here. I know you will get all the support you need for the rest of us SMO's. No one knows what it is like better than we do. My starting BMI was 61 and now it is 33.2. No longer SMO, but I feel more "at home" here. I read your profile and we have the same surgeon. Awesome people at BS&B. You are in excellent hands.
Hugs,
Janie
Sasha,
SMO is Super Morbidly Obese and BS&B should have been PS&B-Peachree Surgical & Bariatrics. I need to cut my fingernails off again taking all this calcium keeps them growing so fast I can barely stay ahead of the game. At my one year check up the first thing I was told was that they could tell I was taking my calcium because my nails looked so good.
Hugs,
Janie
greetings sasha
it's great to meet you! we're all certainly glad you've found us, too. i'm just shy of 2 years out, and this is my favorite board to hang out on. i'm 5'10", and had a starting weight of 463, bmi of 66. i currently weigh 187, and my bmi is 26. i'm still trying to lose a few more pounds, as i REALLY want to achieve the "normal" bmi category. of course, i've got yards of excess skin, but it really doesn't seem to matter all that much, as i'm SO happy with the loss, and the way life is going for me these days. it's really quite wonderful! i'm wearing size 12 jeans! i'm pretty sure i was born larger than a 12, so it's just incredible to me!
hope to see you around here frequently, and i wish you all the best in your journey. keep us updated as to how things are going for you!

Hi Sweetie! Welcome! Are you post-op or preop? If pre-op, do you have a date yet?
Anyway, my highest weight was 319 and my starting weight was 303 - I'm 5'2". I had RNY in May 2005 and got down to 158 before regaining a little weight over the Christmas holiday. But, I am back on track and "WILL" get back to 158 and keep on going to get to my eventual goal of 135 after plastics. Anyway good luck with everything!
Hugs, Tracy
