Post-op check up today
I back for my 1 week post-op visit today. I'm so hoping that I'll be moved from clear liquids to full liquids/soft foods. I also want to find out when I can exercise and drive again.
I'm thinking that since I haven't had any pain meds since last Friday, maybe I can drive sooner. It's hard having to rely on others to get me around!
I'm down about 16lbs from surgery last Wednesday - not too bad for one week!

Very good Jennie!!! I know I got the Ok to drive at one week after my staples were removed.
My DR made us wait until 14 full days post op before we could start soft foods ... so basically it was 4 weeks of a liquid diet, and boy was that hard! Glad it's over and I don't have to do it again!
Congratulations!

Well, he did keep me on liquids for another 6 days. I am able to drive if my husband feels that I'm OK to drive. I'm not in pain, nor have I used pain meds in the past week, so he felt I could drive as long as I wasn't tired, weak, etc.
I'm really bummed about the liquids stuff, but that's OK.
Also, I won't know about exercise until I go back for my next checkup on March 7.
Jennie,
I'm glad to hear that your appointment went well. I know that you were hoping to be placed on soft foods. I was placed on soft foods 5 days after surgery. I don't go for my first post-op appointment until Tuesday and that's because I saw my surgeon on Monday when I had to go back to the ER for stomach pain. I had my staples removed and was placed on soft foods the same day. I was very leary though. I made sure that I kept everything at 2 ozs and so far it works for me.
I'm anxious to find out how much I've lost since my surgery. I've weighed myself at home, but my scale isn't as accurate as the doctors scale.
You can do it! Just a few more days on the liquids and then you'll be able to enjoy soft foods.
By the way, I started driving about a week after surgery.
