Gym is Open (Friday) (Kix also babbles about yesterday's outing)
It's Friday!
I had a great time at the Garden Show. There were many beautiful gardens to look at, and of course, lots of vendors selling all sorts of home-building things. One dude was selling flagpoles. I asked my sister, "Do we need a flagpole?" She said no. I told the dude, "I'm sorry, we don't need a flagpole today." The dude laughed and said, "I totally understand." I was trying to imagine just how much business a flagpole seller gets at a Garden Show, and woe to him if he works on commission!
One exhibitor was selling tractors. The tractor only cost $6900, which is way cheaper than a new car, so I asked him if it was street legal.
I have enough self-esteem that it wouldn't bother me to drive a tractor instead of a car, but alas, the tractor is not street legal in my part of Colorado.
We did find some delicious, sugar free beef jerky, and bought two small bags. One is wimpy flavored (for me) and the other is tainted with habenero peppers (for my sister).
I ended up not doing much walking at the show, the exhibitor hall is gigantic, so I rode in my transport chair. My sister's friend joined us. She is a large woman (who has gained more weight since I saw her last) whose health is starting to fail, and it reminded me of how I used to be such a short time ago. She can barely walk, so she had to stop every few feet and rest. She can't breathe very well. Watching her struggle yesterday made me very grateful to have had WLS.
I did, however, do plenty of walking at the clinic. I had to go get my six month post-op bloodwork done. My six month anniversary is on Valentine's Day! Already! I also did some walking without my walker at Costco (just from the parking lot to the scooter) and a short walk without my walker from the garage to the mailbox when we came home.
Now, back to the subject at hand, what did you do, or plan to do, to move your body today? I plan to do several short walks later, since my baseline data on Wednesday showed I only walked 1200 steps. I need to do more walking.
(long-winded) Kix
