Good morning everyone, Yesterday I went for a bone scan.. My PCP thought it would be a good idea, since my surgery, because of malasobation and all. Also my mother and grandmother both have ostoporosis(sp) anyway it was so easy, I just layed on a table (which by the way I had no trouble gettting on) and this bar just kinda went over me for about 5 minutes. It will take a few days for the results. Just wondering if anyone else has had this procedure done?  Happy Valentines Day.. Lynn

My surgeon required a bone scan before WLS, so we'd have something to compare it to later on.  I think they make you get one done once a year? It was no big deal, sorta like getting an xray, they did my hips, back, and then one arm. Jan

Lynn, I had it done about a year ago.  It came out fine.  But, the radiologist recommends that I take at least 1200 mg of calcium citrate and 400 mg of Vit D per day and repeat the bone scan every 2 years.  Are you taking the calcium and Vit D? Lori

Lori, Yes I do take calcium 1800 mgs a day, but not the D, maybe I should check into that. Yesterday at my scan I did discover that I had lost an inch in height. I have always been 5'4 and she told me yesterday I am 5'3, boy that mess' with my BMI, which really upsets me.. They didn't tell me when I had RNY, that my height would shrink too...hahaha. Anyway have a great Valentines day... Lynn

Lynn, The Vit D helps you absorb the calcium better.  It is no big deal to take, but, well worth it!

I've shrunk an inch too!!!  ARGHH!
