Gym Is Open (Thursday)
Tonight I will go to a new gym as the one I usually go to is too out of the away and I have a meeting tonight, so we will see how that goes. It is amazing how comfortable you get with your workout places. This is at the University I work at, so I expect a lot of college kids to be there. They will just have to not look at me.
I plan on walking 45 minutes on the treadmill and doing upper body strength training.
What did you do to move your body today?
Lori
You should have seen me at the theater last night. It looked like I was competing in the Walker Olympics!
We were late leaving the house last night (stupid sister was on the phone and lost track of time). The streets were slick, it was snowing, and the freeway had not been plowed or sanded. Traffic was barely moving.
We arrived at the theater ten minutes before curtain, which didn't give us much time to get to our seats. Not only that, I had to urgently use the restroom. We sprinted from the parking lot to the theater, then sprinted to the restroom (which was on another level of the theater), then headed to our section. Turns out my seat (I always sit in the disabled section so I have room for my walker) was back down on the main level, but to access it we had to go all the way around to the other side of the theater.
With the usher leading the way, I sprinted down a bunch of ramps, through the main lobby, down a couple of elevators, jogged in and out of the employee break room, and up an elevator until I was finally at the level to access the disabled seating.
I wish I'd worn my pedometer, I'm pretty sure I set a new record for daily steps!
I'd have never made it without the wheeled walker, my old walker would have been impossible to manouver that quickly.
My knees were sore during the play, but they aren't too bad today. The play was good, but I'm a snob about Shakespeare, so I gave it a "B". Some of the actors need more classical training, especially in costume deportment. Oh, and next time, I'll just try the stairs.

P.S. I don't have any activity planned today, I did enough yesterday!

Hey Lori,
Well I decied to change this up just a little to see just what I could do. I did the treadmill today for 15 min at 3.0 then kicked it up to 3.5 wow what a rush to be able to walk that fast and it was really working my body I tell ya. My hope is to one day be able to do that for 30 min. Ok and then of course I hit the elliptical machine that is my friend 45 min. That it for me I only have one more day left of my 4 day per week workout. I think I am going to start walking around my neighborhood on the 3 days i don't go to the gym. Well talk to ya tomorrow.

Hey, Lori, I hope your trip to the new gym went well. I usually go to the fitness center at my job, but recently went to Bally's a couple times with a friend. Talk about feeling out of place. But I just put that aside and did my thing; turns out no one else cares about what I'm doing; go figure...
Anyway, on Thursday I lifted weights at lunch. I do a full circuit on the Cybex (like Nautilus) machines, doing 2 sets of 12-15 reps for upper body, and 3 sets of 20 reps for lower body. Have to skip the leg extension machines b/c they bother my knee. I've started lifting weights 2x per week to improve my strength and tone my muscles. I'm hoping that I can get some decent tone and basic muscle definition by the time I'm ready for plastic surgery!
