Gym Is Open (Thursday)
Since I've been stressing out at work so much, last night when I went to the gym, I worked out very hard with the cardio portion. See I always work out and break a good sweat, but, I've tried to keep my heart rate in the "fat burning" zone. Hoping to burn fat. The only problem with that is that you don't get quite the endorphin rush of an all out workout. And I decided that is more important to me right now. It felt so good. I left the gym with a real high. For the time being at least, I think I'm going to do the high cardio workout as opposed to the fat burning workout. I will still do strength training which is supposed to give you greater fat burning benefits anyway.
I just need to feel better and deal with stress better and not just turn to food, which is what my compulsive eating personality most naturally does.
Anyway, back to the gym tonight.
What did you do to move your body today?
Lori
Remember in the olden days when exercise was just exercise? Good job on choosing what you need for yourself rather than just solely focusing on fat burning!
I'm off to the clinic today to pick up yet another piece of equipment -- this one is to check my oxygen levels while I'm sleeping -- so I'll be doing lots of walking at the clinic. My PCP wants to repeat one of my liver function tests, as the result was slightly elevated last month. I'm not worried, since I eat a diet high in protein and I think that's why the result was a bit high.
It's a lovely day today, so I will enjoy getting out and about. If I have time, I think I will walk between the two clinics for extra exercise. That reminds me, I need to take my pedometer!

I lifted weights at lunch today - upper and lower body. Am hoping to find energy to do 30-40 minutes on my recumbent bike at home tonight, but have a cold so energy level is very low. At least I made it to the gym at lunch time though... Good luck to everyone finding the energy and motivation to move it today! Kellie
I know what you mean Lori, I need the endorphin rush of a high intensity workout. Plus, I don't necessarily buy that "fat burning zone" theory because the fact is that you get a higher overall
"calorie" burn at higher intensities. Who cares if you are burning fat or burning carbs as long as you are burning calories!
Anyway, it's my exercise day off (school tonight). If I feel up to it when I get home from school, I may do a short Pilates class or something, but I'll probably be too tired.
Jesus is so good to me; I couldn't ask for a better friend, protector, leader, savior!
Hi Lori,
I to started the high cardio, I love the feeling of completing it. I did the elliptical for 60 min completed 4 miles and felt wonderful I think I burned somewhere around 830 calories this morning. I like to push myself to higher heights and while I am working out I hear that little voice telling me its ok to quit then another voice will tell me you can make it don't stop now keep going. You know after i am finish I give myself a pat on the back because I was doing that 9 months ago but look at me now. I am a exercise queen.
