No snow problems driving in the morning, our next storm is supposed to hit us tonight and through tomorrow a.m.'s commute...woohoo! This morning I did 25 minutes on the recumbant bike and 40 minutes of a new strength training routine. What did you do to move your body today? Lori

Of course you didn't have a snow problem this morning because the storm is now over here!  We have about four or five inches already, and I think it's supposed to last throughout the day, darn it.  It's our turn today, I don't think PJ's part of town is getting hit like we are.  At least they have promised me sunshine and warmer weather by the weekend. And now for an announcement -- I shoveled snow!  My sibling is coming home at lunch because she's worried about the roads, and she can work from home.  She was worried about getting in the driveway, so I told her I'd try shoveling.  Shoveling actually wasn't too hard, I didn't even come close to feeling like I was going to have a coronary.  I was able to carefully manage walking without my walker while shoveling by liberally spreading "ice melt" over each patch I shoveled.  I was more afraid of slipping than I was of shoveling, but my legs were pretty steady the entire time I shoveled. The driveway is now clear; however we ran out of ice melt with only 1/3 of the driveway shoveled.  Luckily, my sibling is a salt addict, so we have a Costco-sized case of table salt in the pantry.  I used that and it worked just as well as ice melt.  Not sure if it's cheaper than ice melt, though. I haven't shoveled snow since I was in high school in Utah (we lived on the East Bench foothills and thus it was a great way to earn money in the winter), and it's kind of gratifying to discover that, at age 49.2, I haven't lost my touch!  I'll pay for it later, though -- my knees were pretty stiff by the time I finished. We only got a couple of inches but boy was it icy. it took me 1 1/2 hours to get home last night, I was sliding all over the place. But, I didn't have to shovel unlike you Kix. YEAH for you for shoveling!!! Look at how far you have come - there is no way you could of done that in December! I did 40 minutes on the elliptical Wednesday, but I'm having a problem with my feet falling asleep. At about 20 minutes they get all tingly, 30 minutes they are asleep and by 40 minutes they were actually hurting. Anyone have this problem too?

Wow, Kix, you go girl! Tonight is "Get Ripped 1000"  night (my hardest workout that I only do once per week because it is so hard).

Jesus is so good to me;  I couldn't ask for a better friend, protector, leader, savior!

Hey there Lori,  I was up with the chickens and did 1 hour of cardio elliptical and treadmill. I really missed the gym yesterday. Well I am back in action. I have been thinking about going everyday for 30 min but 4 day do my hour. What do you think? I read a study that we should do 30 min per day. Lorraine

Hey, Lorraine: When you wake up with those chickens tomorrow, you may be one short -- I'm making Salt and Pepper Chicken for dinner tonight.  Kix

On Wednesday, I absolutely, positively had no interest whatsoever in going to the gym.  It just wasn't going to happen.  No way.  Then I realized that I've been in a nice groove, it's easy to get out of the groove, not so easy to get back in, and dang it, you'll be done in an hour and on your way home.   So I went to the gym, started my favorite workout playlist on my iPod, and did a 37 minute interval program on the elliptical trainer.  It felt great when I was done, both physically and mentally.   So on those days when you're thinking "I just don't want to do it today," I encourage you to stick with it; you'll be glad you did!!!
