I am 6 weeks post op. The first 4 weeks I would start to feel ill when I ate too much or too fast or didn't chew enough. Now I am finding that I can eat more, chew less, and eat more of a variety...still can't do too much sugar, It still makes me feel sick. However, I feel like my tool is not working for me. I lost 40 pounds in the first 3 weeks and have not lost a pound since then. I have heard about stalls but I feel like I am on a stay not a stall. I know 40 pounds is good for 6 weeks....BUT I feel I should have lost something in 3 weeks. Did I stretch my pouch? What is going on? I have increased my water and protein intake. Still nothing. I feel like I am failing at this. It is so depressing.

You prob lost alot of fluid the first few weeks and now you are loosing fat. How much more can you eat? At about 4-6 weeks I was able to eat more than the tiny medicine cup amounts that I started with. It felt like I was eating a huge amount, but it was just a large amount compared to what I could eat at first. I caould eat an oz or 2 of protein and a few tablespoons of my side veggie or fruit.   I  am 6 months out and still cannot eat all my protein (I am supposed to eat more than 90g a day) and have to use the supplements..  I can eat  alot more of some foods than others. It is scary how much sugar free pudding I can pack away without realizing it. Other foods I canot eat more than 2 ozs. I am scared of dumping..I have thrown up a few times from overeating/eating too dry of food/ not chewing well enough .. and that feeling is bad enough. I have just ventured  this week to try some splenda brown sugar mix on a baked sweet potato...boy did I feel like I was cheating. I can also eat all the sugar free chocolate I want without  problem. ( I have overendulged hoping to counteract my constipation..lol..did not work.)  YOu are probably just finished healing and your pouch is getting the hang of things. Good luck! Shellie

Was the sweet potatoe with brown sugar splenda good?I will have to try that. I take SF Fiber Choice chewable 2x daily and I have weight control oatmeal for breakfast. It has made me regular(daily)I was stopped up for about 3 weeks.

Thank for you advise and keep up the good work

You mentioned that sugar makes you sick, so you might want to be careful with the "brown sugar Splenda" because it is a blend of splenda and "real brown sugar" so it is not sugar free.  It might make you sick as a result.  If you want to try some artificial "brown sugar", the only totally sugar free one I can think of is Sugar Twin Brown.  It is completely artificial.  Someone mentioned that there is a pretty good artificial brown sugar at bariatriceating.com, but I have not checked.  Good luck! P.s.  baked sweet potato with regular splenda, cinnamin, and a little Molly McButter is also delicious and totally sugar free, so it should not make you sick.

The weight can never come off fast enough.  Especially at first when you are so excited.  Keep in mind  that you may be losing inches if not pounds.  Have you measured yourself?  Just keep up trying to get in your water and protein and you will continue to lose.  Believe me, I know how difficult it is to be patient.  You can do it! A stall at about 6 weeks is normal.  I stalled about that time, then the weighloss picked up.  You're not failing, so don't be depressed.  Your weightloss WILL stall occasionally; it happens to all of us.

I went through the same thing - those first two months were rough because I was still getting use to my body. I couldn't tell when I was really hungry, my stomach just felt weird/different.  And I stalled big time at one month - I didn't lose anything for 4 weeks! But this is where mentally you have to start talking to yourself and try to move beyond this fear of yours. Everybody is different and there are times when your body just won't do what you want it to do. I remember freaking out that 2nd month, positive I was going to be that one person who fails early on! But instead I decided to start working out a lot, stopped weighing myself everyday and now I'm down 114 pounds in 5 1/2 months. Feeling good has taken over my fear of not losing enough, and I feel great! take a deep breathe and concentrate on sticking to the diet plan. If you do, you will succeed and start to develop good habits that will last you a lifetime. You're doing fine, just keep up the good work! Pam
