New Leaf Metabolic assessment

Is anyone familiar with the New Leaf Fitness metabolic assessment?  It's an assessment that's supposed to tell you your resting metabolic rate (RMR), and to help you determine the proper "zone" to maximize the effectiveness of your exercise.  I'm interested in doing this, but am wondering if the results are accurate for people who have had gastric bypass surgery.  I'd appreciate any information you can offer - thanks.   Here's a link to their website if you want to check it out:  http://www.newleaffitness.com/ Kellie Lap RNY 10/25/2005 396/213/165

My HMO is doing some work on RMR and WLS patients, so I can ask my counselor when I go to class on Monday.  I'm not sure it's the same one, but at least I can see what they think about it. When I was on the modified Optifast plan, they talked about maybe doing this for me if my weight loss stopped while on Optifast. Kix

Thanks, Kix; I'd appreciate any information you can provide!   I'm planning to have my resting metabolic rate (RMR) and my exercise metabolic rate tested by New Leaf.  The RMR is supposed to tell you how many calories your body burns as part of its everyday functions (beating heart, breathing, kidneys working, etc.).  The exercise metabolic rate is supposed to help you determine what's the most effective "zone" for you to workout in (to maximize use of fat calories).  I think it's designed to keep you in the "aerobic" mode, as opposed to an "anaerobic" mode.  When you're get into the anaerobic mode, you still burn calories, but not as many fat calories.

Anyway, I find myself becoming an exercise and fitness buff, so am really interested in this.  I spend 7-8 hours per week exercising, and want to make sure I'm getting the maximum benefit for the time I'm spending.   Again, thanks for checking into this for me - I really appreciate it! Kellie

I know I am really a compulsive overeater.  I was skimming the titles of posts and I read this one as New Meat Loaf...   LOL  Loris
