I'll open the gym this morning. I was talking with my sibling the other day about the wellness benefit my HMO provides -- it's a basic membership to the rec centers in our county.  I happened to mention that I was planning to sign up "sometime."  She called my bluff, and we both signed up yesterday.  I'm lucky, my HMO covers the fee.  My sibling bought a year's membership. Today was our first foray into serious exercise.  She did 1/4 mile on the treadmill.  I did somewhere between five and ten minutes (hard to tell because I would pause to rest while the belt kept going). I did their armbike, too, for about ten minutes, which is way tougher than my little wimp-cycle here at home. Our plan is to attend every day.  There are also various fitness classes during the day, so I may try to catch a few of them as well.  One of the centers even has a warm water therapy pool, so once I'm cleared for aqua classes, the warm water will be nice. Until my knees gets used to all this actiivty, feel free to call me "Lurch," because that's how I'm walking right now!  What did you do to move your body today? Kix

Yeah for you!! That's great that both of you are doing it, it will be good to have that accountability. We'll be going for that long walk before you know it! Yesterday I went for a nice hike - it was 3 miles and all hills but I made it, without any problems! My PT guy for my ankle told me I was at the point where I need to push my ankle so I'll be doing this hike a couple times a week. Thank god for good weather! Today I did 33 minutes on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the cycle, then did my 20 minutes of weight training. My legs were kind of sore from yesterday but I made it through! Later today I just might go for a nice, simple walk. It's sunny and nice out and I want to get some sun.

Kix, Thanks so much for opening the gym this weekend.  I was rebelling again to touching the computer for a weekend.  I need that! Congratulations on joining a gym!  Take it easy and work up to things slowly.  It will pay off so much!  I wish I could show you some of the tendon strengthening exercises my trainer started me out with before I did any serious exercises. I did not exercise on Saturday.  I did go to the gym yesterday and did 45 mins on the treadmill. Lori

Hi, Saturday, John and I went to the morning water aerobics class.  We didn't exercise Sunday because we just had so much to get done in a little time. Thanks Kix for opening the gym.

Hiya Kix,  Sorry it took me a day to post to this. But yesterday I went to the gym and I did 45 minutes on the tread mill and another on the elipitical machine. Then I went on over and did a few free weights. I sure felt a lil sore but alot better when I got out of there. Just keep going and it will get alot easier the more you go. The aqua class is amazing and oh so much easier on your joints. You'll never want to get out of the water.
