I just feel awful!!  And I know I should be happy. at least I can buy something besides those big strech pants I went shopping this week in a large town where my aunt lives. She took me shopping for clothes. She said it was time. I wanted to wait awhile but she said we could do it again later.  But instead of making me feel good it just made me feel awful.  Nothing fits right. If I buy 16 that fit. I have a huge tire roll of skin that hangs out. If I buy 18's they are so baggy in the butt and legs that they look like a garabage bag and the skin just spreads something awful that I still look so big in the thighs and legs And whats the deal with all these clothes being so strechy that they just spread. We went to fashion bug. Am I shopping in the wrong store. I know they are for plus size isnt 16 and 18 still plus size.  I need something tight to hold all the skin in.  We went bra shopping and that was awful.  Went to sears to be sized and that was a joke. They lady didnt even measure she just kept bringing me different sized bras to try. And she had no clue what to do about the skin thing. 50 dollars for two bras.  To get all the skin to stay in the bra. I had to get a size D when I am only a b probable. Now my bra has wrinkles in it instead of laying smooth. Now she spent a lot of money and I feel awful that nothing fits right.  I went to walmart today and bought a cupid thingy thinging it might hold some skin in. I havent got up the nerve to go try it on.  How do you find clothes to fit right. I just hate this.  hate it.  I have two pairs of pants on my dresser and I just look awful in both. I feel like a little kid that is never happy.

HEY RIE RIE,           I CAN SO TOTALLY RELATE TO HOW CLOTHES FIT. BUT I TAKE IT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. I JUST REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS LIKE SHOPPING AT MORE EXPENSIVE STORES WITH NO CHOICE. ROMANS, CATHERINES AND SO FORTH. BUT I DO KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT THEM NOT FITTING RIGHT. I HAVE TO TUCK IN MY STOMACH JUST ABOUT LIKE A SHIRT. THAT IS WHY I STAY IN  THE 16'S IM IN NOW INSTEAD OF GO SMALLER. I HATE THE TIGHT LOOK AND MY SKIN NEEDS NO HELP GOING OVER THE TOP OF MY JEANS. IT HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN. JUST LOOK ELSEWHERE TILL YOU FIND SOME THAT FIT BETTER. IT IS A JOB IM SURE BUT LOOK AT IT LIKE THIS.... AINT IT EASIER STILL THOUGH THAN THE BEGINNING OF YOU WLS WHEN YOU HAD TO PAY FOR THE MORE LESS FLATTERING STYLES? I AM ON THE HUNT FOR A MOTHER OF THE BRIDE DRESS MYSELF AND WONT BE WEARING THE OLD UGH UGLY STYLES NOW THAT I CAN SHOP SOMEWHERE BESIDES LARGER WOMEN STORES. I WILL HAVE A VARIETY AT LEAST. I WORE SZ 34W'S AT MY TWO OTHER DAUGHTERS WEDDINGS SO THIS WILL TOTALLY BE A CHANGE. SO JUST HANG IN THERE RIE AND DONT WORRY, JUST SHOP AROUND A LIL MORE. YOU'LL FIND SOMETHING... HUGS MARGE

Karma....What would life be without it?  250lbs gone! 410/160... Life's sweet!

I totally understand what you are going thru. I have found body slimmers are the key, and they aren't uncomfortable like the old fashion girdles. I got a really got one from Lane Bryant.. Oprah raves about the brand Spanx. It makes a huge difference, you should give them a try. Good luck Lynn

Marie,   It will get better in time!  I promise...  I went through the same thing and wasted so much money on clothes that I hated and looked horrible on me.  I finally gave up and found a thrift store that had nice good quality clothes for a price I could afford.     After being obese for so many years I didnt know how to shop for a smaller body.  I was still trying to get jeans that were stretchy.  They would look OK for about 10 minutes and then all the sudden they would get loose and start hanging on me.  It takes time to adjust to your new body.  Just hang in there.   I too tried using the cupid things from walmart.  They worked for awhile but for some reason they caused me to break out in a rash.  The skin couldnt breathe well enough.  (I have extra sensitive skin)..     As for the bras...  Good Luck!  Im still trying to find a bra that will hold in all the excess and support what I have left of my boobs!!  The smaller the bra size the smaller the sides are!!  It sounds horrible but I bought a couple bras that were way to big around and just altered them some to fit me.  That way I had something to hold in the skin!!  Ive tried doing the bra fitting thing and left feeling horrible about myself..     After years of trying to shop with very limited options we tend to fall into a pattern of buy what fits. Now that the options are greater its hard to decide what looks good, what doesnt, what is fashionable and what is just a fad.  You will eventually find what works for you- just dont give up!   For me... Im a jeans kinda girl!  I have a closet FULL of jeans!  And I have to keep a variety of sizes..  Anywhere from a size 5 to a size 8...  What is baggy and looks horrible today might fit well and look good next week.  Depending on if Ive gained or lost 5lbs...      Good luck.. Try not to let things get to you too much.  I know its hard and can be quite emotional.  The more you let it get to you the worse it will be..  Just relax and enjoy your smaller body!   Amber

Hi RieRie! I was just complaning about the same thing to my best friend. My belly is really getting in the way. It's very discouraging. I wish I knew the answers to your questions, but I just wanted you to know you're not alone.

Hey there, I haven't had surgery yet -- but clothes shopping definitely is no fun at all. I would recommend to anyone who is plus sized NOT to go to fashion bug (not sure if anyone loves that store). In my experience, the clothes there are poorly made and therefore you don't always  feel good in them. There are two stores that I like for clothes and bras - Lane Bryant (if you want the trendy stuff) and Avenue (their stores are inconsistent though - but the one in my town I am in love with). Also - since you're wearing a size 16/18 you can look at Old Navy Plus Size and Casual Corner (I believe). Good luck on your shopping adventures! Courtney
