Went to the gym at 5:30 am.  Only had 50 mins to workout because of an early meeting.  Started with 30 mins of abs, back and lower body strength training.  Could only do 15 mins on the treadmill.  I'm walking to the post office at lunch to mail a package.  I think it is 2 miles round trip. What did you do to move your body today? Lori

I haven't done much yet, but we'll go to the rec center and exercise when my sibling gets home from work. Yesterday, I did six minutes on the treadmill, 20 minutes of graduated hills on the armbike, and 10 minutes of reverse armbike at a random workout setting.  I'll probably do something similar tonight.I find if I don't look at the timer on the treadmill, I don't get tired as fast -- go figure!  When we were at the rec center the other day (we'd gone later than usual, around 7 PM), as I was walking into the center, I heard three teenage boys walking behind me and laughing.  I don't know if they were laughing at me, but I decided if they were, I didn't care.  I might walk funny, but a year ago, I couldn't walk at all.  So there! Kix, When I look at the timer, or distance gone, it seems to take forever, and I'm wiped out!  You are not alone on that observation! There were some litle kids in the pool locker room tonight and they pointed at me and said to their mom "look at the fat lady", but I pretended not to hear.  At least I'm there working to be the not so fat lady.  I did think it rude that the mom didn't say something to them though.  Maybe it's because I'm heavy, but I cannot remember my children commenting on someone's size when they were little.  They probably thought that most moms were fat or something.

Hey, Kix, I discovered that I can go farther and longer if I cover up that darn timer!  So I throw my towel over the timer and just go until my body tells me I'm done.  Plus, my workout time goes much faster when I'm not focused on the time.   One of my other "tricks" is that I always, always, always listen to music.  I started with CDs and a portable CD player, but have graduated to an iPod.  I've even made workout playlists of my favorite music so I can listen a variety of things without having to mess around with the iPod while I'm all sweaty.  I've read a number of articles recently about studies that show that people who listen to music while they exercise are more likely to stick with their exercise routines.  I don't recall the details about the articles, or the psychology behind it, but I know it works for me.   Good for you for ignoring the obnoxious teenage boys!!! Hey Lori,  Well the scale is moving and so am I. I am changing my workout a little by adding one day. I am also going to try using weights again starting tomorrow. I am going to try twice per week. Well today I did 1 hour of cardio and that was it home I went. I was thinking about adding some more walking on my lunch break or afternoon break but we shall see. I am going to try to walk around this huge city block this afternoon, I will let you know how that goes.  Lorraine

I've had the flu since Saturday and haven't worked out since then. This sucks, I was just feeling really good about my workouts since my cold 2 months ago, and not this. Ugh, I can barely walk to my car! let's hope I begin to feel better soon and get back to my workouts!

PJ, I'm convinced that everyone in the greater Denver area is either currently sick (me, too) or just getting over being sick.  If I find Patient Zero, I'm going to kick their backside.   I haven't gotten the full bore flu yet, I've been hovering for about a week (taking lots of Vitamin C and added zinc to my handful of daily supplements).  I'm not as sick as some have been, so I think the vitamins are helping a bit. It's annoying, I'm sick of honking my nose, and sick of taking Tylenol Cold.  I can't take flu shots because I'm allergic to egg protein and the flu vaccine is grown in egg yolk.  Get well soon!
