I did a quick trip to the gym this morning so I could make an early morning meeting.  30 mins treadmill and 15 mins abs and back. I need to walk at least 3 more miles today to get in my 5 miles, so I plan on doing 1 mile at lunch and the other two after work... What did you do to move your body today? Lori

Hey Lori,  Well its my day off so I was lazy and slept in for a few hours before going to the gym but I feel pretty good. I have increased the amount of days per week and it looks like it is paying off. I have now started going to the gym 6 days per week doing the normal thing but it feels good. I love to sweat now. Now the weight loss had picked up I lost 4 pounds this week. How is your extra time going as far as increased cardio seeing any results?  This moring I did elliptical 35 min and treadmill 30 min. Girl I tell ya I was sweating so much I didn't want to get i my car because the back of my shirt was soaked. Well I think I might go and watch a movie before the children get out of school. Have a great day.  Lorraine

We'll go to the rec center as usual when my sibling gets home from work. We went yesterday as soon as they opened (a pox on my sibling, who thinks 5 AM is a normal time of day during the week, "sleeping in" until 7 AM on the weekends), and I did seven minutes of treadmill, 20 minutes of Matterhorn armbike terrain at level 3 and 10 minutes of reverse armbike using the random hill terrain at level 2.   I'll stay with this plan for a few more days, then move up to eight minutes on the treadmill.  I don't want to pu**** and wear myself out, so I make sure I work hard enough to sweat.  I read that if you aren't sweating, you haven't raised your metabolism enough to make exercise do what it's supposed to do. Kix, Sounds like you got the right idea!  You don't have to add time that fast.  It is still working! The women I work out with are like your sister.  They have no problems getting to the gym by 5 am and 7 am on Saturdays.  I have trouble every day!  Oh well...I'm trying... Lori

I spent 30 minutes weight training: Abs, Shoulders, Inner Thighs, Lunges. This evening, I will walk 2 miles! Go Me!

Thanks Lori... I'm trying to tackle this thing hard and fast. My doc said to work out as much as possible, especially in the first 6 months. So as soon as he gave me the go to work out, I went at it hard. Not hard enough that I would hate working out, but I knew I just needed to get my body moving -- both with cardio and strength/weight training.

Did you have laproscopic or open surgery?  My doctor had me wait 12 weeks before I did much strength training to try and prevent hernias. Anyway, exercise is a life-long endeavor...glad to see you are bought into the idea!  We are here to support you! Lori

Hey, Lori, I lifted weights at lunch today for upper and lower body.  I have a physical therapy appointment at 6:00 p.m. for my knee (going to work on strengthening quads, hip muscles, and core muscles to help take some of the pressure off my knees).  Depending on how long that takes, I'll head to the gym for 30-40 minutes of cardio.   One of my co-workers and I have a little competition going that I thought this group may find interesting.  She and I are keeping track of our mileage on the elliptical trainer.  We're competing to see who can get from Cleveland, Ohio to Niagara Falls, NY and back first (406.2 miles).  When we've both made it there and back, we're actually going to go to Niagara Falls and the "loser" has to buy the winner dinner.  We use it as a way to keep us motivated, plus a little friendly competition doesn't hurt.  Anyway, we started our journey in September 2006 and I've "traveled" 229.39 miles so far!  It's pretty cool when you think about it that way!  Anyway, thought folks here might find that interesting - will try to remember to post on my progress as our journey progresses.   Kellie
