Ok it official I hate the scale. Its hard to believe but I really can’t stand it anymore and I am going to try and give it a break for the rest of this week to see if it will move. Yesterday I my weight was 308.6 I figured because it was after I had worked out that I really was around 309 so this is the number I posted for the weekly weigh in. Now I normally weigh in at 4:50 am to see what my weight is and this morning it was 311?????????????? What is going on??? I can’t explain it other than On Monday I was off and weighed myself 4 hours latter than I normally do. So I should see that number sometime next week so for now my weight is really only 2 pounds for last week which is fine I am really not worried about it I am just pissed off right now. Thanks for listening.

Weight changes daily... hourly even.  Try weighing yourself every two weeks or every four weeks.  I know it's hard to stay off the scale but you cannot really put too much stock in daily weighings because of weight fluctuations, which are natural.

Lorraine I weigh myself about the same time as you do everyday. If I have gained even an ounce, I am crazy all day. Wrecking my brain about what I ate the day before.  Questioning everything I ate and done the day before. Then I second quess everything I eat that day. Does it have enough protein? Is it too much fat or carbs? Do I need to drink yet another bottle of water. Do I need to up my work out until I totally fall out? It gets so crazy. I have tried to only weigh myself on Monday for weigh ins. It doesn't work. I am just as crazy if I don't weigh myself,  thinking that if I am doing something wrong I wont catch it before I have gained 2,  3, or 4 pounds in a week instead of losing.  Try not to worry. You are doing a great job and you are looking great.....I know easier said than done

Hey, Lorraine, I feel your pain!  I am a daily weigher and I have to work hard to adjust how I think about the number on that scale every morning.  So many things affect our weight in the short-term -- bloating when we have our periods, fluid retention, timing of bowel movements, etc. -- that it's doubly important to focus on your long-term trends.   I use a line graph to keep track of my daily weight, so I can see how my weight is trending over long periods of time.  (I actually use a software program from calorieking.com to keep track of my daily weight and food intake, and the software creates graphs for me.  It gives graphs for 1 week's history, 4 week's history, 3 month averages, 6 month averages, and 1 year averages.  It's make is pretty easy to see trends so I can make adjustments in calorie intake, protein intake, exercise, etc.)  I try to remind myself that daily fluctuations are normal and that as long as I continue to trend downward over time, the day-to-day numbers aren't critical.  Long-term maintenance is the key.   Anyway, if you can try to focus on the long-term (weeks, months, years), not the short-term.  As long as your weight continues to trend downward over longer periods of time, you're doing just fine.   And if that doesn't work, take the scale out back and shoot it.  That'll make you feel better, plus you'll have a great story to share with us!! {{{{{hugs}}}}} Kellie

Thank you everyone for your comments I am going to take your advice an not worry about the day to day number. I didn't even weigh this morning like I normally would have. I only looked after i got out of the gym. I am still headed in the right direction and that is what is important.  Lorraine

Loarraine, I was a weigh-a-holi****il this past weekend. I mean, it got really bad to the point where I would get depressed if the scale did not move the way I wanted it to. I started second guessing everything, even my decision to have WLS. But I had to realize that a) I did not gain the weight overnight and even with this tool, I will not loose it all overnight. b) Weighing everyday, sometimes 3-4 times a day is not healthy and a bit excessive.  I agree with the other posters, trying weighing once a week or every two weeks. When I said it got really bad, I was not playing. I began murmuring and complaining about my slow weight loss, and blah blah blah. It got to the point that my roommate took my scale away from me this past weekend and hid it. I must say since Saturday, I feel better :-). I am not stressing out about it. And I will not weigh until next week monday. That way I weigh either once a week or once every two weeks. It is a mental relief. So my advice would be to let the scale go for a few days, weeks, etc. Good luck.

Lorraine: I weigh every day, mostly because I want to be sure my legs aren't retaining too much water (I only take my Lasix now if my legs are quite swollen, which hasn't happened in awhile).  However, I use Monday's weight (when we do our weigh-in) as my "official" weight for the week.  Otherwise, I'd go insane.
