NANETTE
Nanette,
Sorry that things are so stressful for you right now - big changes like you are facing are always super challenging. I wanted to remind you that stress, in and of itself, can affect our ability to lose weight. Stress actually causes physiological changes in our body chemistry, and can cause us to either maintain or gain weight. If, however, you keep following your plan, eventually you will begin to lose again and things will level out. So don't beat yourself up over a 2 pound gain during such a stressful time. It's just your body's natural ways of protecting itself.
And regarding whether to follow your family to Mississippi, follow you gut and follow your heart. They will not steer you wrong -

I moved from IL to GA with my husband. I have no family or friends here. I agree follow your gut. Your first thought is to please your self. You second thought is usually for pleasing others. My grandmother use to say "if in doubt don't". I wish I would have listened. Follow your mind.

It feel so good to be below 300lbs. My next goal it to be at 285 by my birthday on May 4th. I am wroking toward it. I also want to be at 290 by my 3-month post op visit on 04/17/07. That would make 72 lbs in 3 month

Hi Marge -
I forgot to post this morning!
I thought I was having a slow week, but I guess I ended up OK after all!
Here are my numbers:
Highest Weight 384 October 2003

Kaiser Options Class Wt. 375 June 14, 2006

Last Week: 296.6

I went back to my primary doctor to get my lab results before I go back to my surgeon. I will probably have to take some potassium, as that is a bit low. He wanted me to leave it for now and try eating a banana every few days to see if that would help. He wants me to ask the surgeon if he wants me on pills since they can irritate the stomach. Other than that, I'm pretty good! YAY!
I see the surgeon next week, then I don't go bac****il July!
I need potassium supplements every once in a while, and my doctor prescribed it in powder form. It comes in individual packets (like splenda), and I just pour it into a bottle of water and sip it. It's not the nicest tasting stuff in the world (kind of a bad orange flavor), but it beats having to take horsey-sized pills.

This is my first official weigh-in here! Sorry I missed doing it yesterday but was so busy I just completely forgot.
Am feeling really good after my WLS. This is post-op day #10 for me today and am very surprised at actually how good I feel. I think because I had to wait so long to do this that no matter what this WLS threw my way I would be more than willing to deal with. I vowed not to complain about it because it was just such a long time coming for me and I'm just so thankful to have finally gotten on the losers team!
My original WLS was scheduled to be a RNY but after more talk with my surgeon & his team they suggested a VSG might be a better option for me. In all honesty, I didn't care which one they did as long as something was done. The decision wasn't even made until after the WLS started - my surgeon said he'd make the decision once he "got in there". So I had no idea what he'd done until after I woke up from anesthesia.
I got to recuperate in sunny Tijuana Mexico with my DH which was wonderful considering I live in Michigan and it's been snowing for the last couple of days!
We got back Friday the 6th and I sure do miss the warmer weather and the ocean.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter/Passover.
