Dolly, everyone's weight loss is different.  I started out at 530, and my surgeon insisted I lose 10% of my weight prior to surgery.  I did so well on the pre-op diet that I lost 20% and weighed 407 on surgery day.  I've lost half a Kix (265 lbs total so far).  My surgeon thinks I can get to 170 or 180, but I think some of that will have to come from PS to remove excess skin.  My personal goal is "under 200," and if I exceed that, Woohoo! Did your surgeon tell you where he thought you might end up weight-wise?  If not, ask!  At the very least, he/she should be able to offer up a ballpark figure. Kix

greetings! everyone's loss is different, of course. lots of variables with individuals, but here are my stats: i'm 5'10", 50 years old -- day of surgery weight was 463, and i'm now down to 187. i'd like to lose a bit more, but i've been stuck here for several months. i feel GREAT...just really wanted to get to that 'normal' BMI...need to lose another 13 lbs. to get to that. now the skin...well, that's a story of it's own! best of luck to you! deb -276

Hi Deb,  Just wanted to thank you for being an inspiration. I've been watching for your post ever since I was pre-op, only HOPING that I could do half as well as you have done. Congrats to you!

why, thank you, triple C!! what a kind thing to say. and you are doing great! i'm sure you're inspiring people yourself. i saw in your response to this thread that you aren't comfortable stating your starting weight...i felt just like that too.  for a long time, i'd only post how many pounds i'd lost, never where i started! i remember someone specifically asking me what my starting weight was...and i was appalled to say! now, i don't mind -- i'm so amazed by the changes in my life, i just want to tell everyone i meet all about it! all the best to you -- keep up the great work! deb

Thanks Deb! I must say it is so nice to be in the company of people who can relate and understand. I'm hoping some day I will be just as proud to share my beginning with people. I can only imagine how amazed you are with your changes. At 10 mos post-op I go through a roller coaster of emotions. I can't believe this is truly me living this on one hand and on another I'm almost afraid to enjoy it because in my mind one wrong turn will take me back to the beginning. I know logically that isn't possible and that it would take a lot more then that but my mind play tricks on me that way a lot. I truly hope my day of getting comfortable with everything is coming soon. Continued Success, Deb!

Hi Dolly, Yes I was 417 day of surgery, 16 months later, and I am at 200. I plan on losing at least another 30lbs. When is your surgery? Good Luck Lynn

Hi Dolly, I was 407lbs the day of surgery (still don't feel comfy sharing that...eek!) have lost 172lbs to date. I hope to get to 163lbs as it is the high end of normal range for my height, 5'8. I'd love even more to get to 145lbs. This ismy low weight range of normal to help with any bounce back weight. But at this point that only seems like a dream *L*. Best of luck to you!
