I hope you all had a great holiday weekend!  I sure did.  The Capital Reef area here in Utah is so fantastic.  I took 3 challenging hikes.  The folks I was hiking with are veteran hikers.  They easily do 9 mile hikes.  I talked them into doing 3 and 4 mile hikes with me.  As I was afraid they would have to take me out by helicopter if I tried to do more than that.  I really feel all the work from the training I've done.  I wasn't really winded at all.  The climbing through rocks uphill was relatively easy, the coming down was much harder as that impacted my knees.  But, not as bad as I thought! Today, I have my usual soreness in the back and knees, nothing worse.  Anyway, I'm very proud of what I did.  I haven't hiked like that in about 23 years. This morning I went to the gym and walked the track for 35 minutes then did 15 minutes of upper body strength training. What did you do to move your body today? Lori

Thanks Lorraine! My back is still giving me trouble, but, seems to have subsided somewhat.  I am having a plastic surgery consult tomorrow.  I am hoping that if I have the surgery, it will help my back. Your exercise regime looks great, as usual! Lori

I walked a mile - that's about the max I can do at this point.  But for me, its great because when I started two months ago, I felt like I would die after 1 lap (1/3 mile) so big improvement!  My goal is to be able to do two by the time I have surgery.  *fingers crossed*

You are doing great!  Don't over do it.  Even walking a mile a day will help you so much with the surgery.  I wasn't walking around the block then!  We are here to support you wherever you end up! Lori

Hi Lori, I went back to the gym for the first time today. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill and 10 minutes on the elliptical trainer. I did different machines for about 25 minutes. Hubby was showing me how they work. I couldn't use all those machines when I was pregnant.

Hi Lori, He stays with a babysitter while I'm at work and go to the gym. I told her when I first met her that I was gonna go to the gym for about an hour or so after work. (((hugs))) Diana

What a fun weekend! I had to bypass my usual weekend hike since I was out of town, but now I can live through you! It's pretty empowering to just walk up the trail with no problem, isn't it?! I FINALLY got back to the gym today - did 35 minutes on the elliptical, 15 on the bike and 20 minutes of weight training. I also stretched, which I do every day but I never think about mentioning it. That is my favorite part of working out, my stretching. I usually spend 20 minutes doing it, but my massage therapist keeps giving my stretches to help with sore areas, so now I'm up to 30 minutes. But I know I feel so much better when i do them.

PJ, Stretching for 20 mins is fantastic!  My massage therapist is trying to get me to do more of it as well!  Good for us both! Lori
