Vitamin B1

Anyone else having problems with a low B1 level?  Mine was low at my 3 month checkup, and I added a 100mg pill each day.  Now, at 6 months, it is still low - it went from 7 to 8, and my doctor wants me to take the supplements twice a day, and add a B complex as well.  I also take 3 Bariatric Advantage chewables each day.  So, as of yesterday, I'm getting something like 12,000% of B1, and hopefully, it will go up.  We will retest in another month.  I've read that this can be common after bariatric surgery, but haven't read of good ways to treat it if it doesn't resolve with oral supplements.  I know that I cannot be alone in this, so I'm asking for help.  Also, in taking those extra vitamins, I feel queasy sick quite a bit of the time.  Any idea on that issue? Thanks!

Hi Jennie: I am 13 months post op.  At around the 3rd month my Nut told me to go from the flintstones to pre-natals 2 x per week.  Along, with a bunch of other vits and min. my tests have been on target Jeannne

Hi Julie,

So far, I haven't found a sublingual or skin absorb B-1.  I am taking a B complex in addition to the B1, but I find that I am nauseous when I add the B complex. I'm not sure why, but it takes several hours to go away.  There is a theory that B1 absorbs in conjunction with B2 & B3, so a complex vitamin might also be needed.  I also take the Bariatric Advantage chewable vitamins - 3 per day, and 1 of the 100mg B1, calcium, and b12 sublingual 3xweek.  My B1 should be good with all the extra I'm taking, but it isn't helping, which is a concern.  Also, I've noticed that the tops of my feet are slightly numb - it's a strange feeling, and I'm wondering if they are connected.  I will ask my surgeon next week at my 6 month appointment.  I know that my primary doctor said that I might need injections if it doesn't come up by the end of the month.
