Gym is open (Thursday)
Good Morning!
This morning, I taught 60 minutes of water aerobics. I think I made the workout too hard. I had to scale back what I had originally planned, but most of the people said that it felt good to get a hard workout. I have to remind myself that just because I can do it, doesn't mean that everyone else can. I felt like I was getting a really good workout while I was teaching. Last week, I used a workout from another instructor who is training me, but today, I was on my own. I will change things for tomorrow a bit as well. I know that it is a learning curve!
What did you do to move your body today.
Hi Lorraine -
Good to see you! Since I was gone most of last month I feel like I'm missing lots of people from this board.
Keep up the hard work - it does pay off, even when we don't always see the weight loss right away. I was looking at your blog, and I will be praying for you to be encouraged in your efforts when it doesn't feel like you are getting anywhere! Our God is bigger than the weight!
In Christ,
Today was my cardio/strength training day, so I did 50 minutes on the in-line skating machine (I should have stopped at 30 minutes, but I was enjoying my music too much to quit) and about 30 minutes of weight machines.
Even though I hadn't planned to swim today, I had my suit with me, so I decided to try the pool at the rec center where I do my cardio (it's my usual center, but not where I do the aqua stuff). Holy cow, was the water cold! 83 degrees sounds warm until you get in the pool. AIYEE! Not only that, it's a big honking pool, so I could only swim across the pool once, then I had to rest, then swim across again, then rest. I stayed about 30 minutes, then gave up. It was nice not having to dodge clueless seniors standing in front of me while I swam back and forth.
Obviously I'm not ready for the big kids' pool yet, so it's back to the wimpy warm water therapy pool for me.

Hi Kix -
Good job on your work out! You are right, 83 can seem cold at times, but I find I warm up right away. Today, our pool was too warm, and considering the workout was really hard, it seemed even warmer.
I was wondering how you swim with your oxygen. Just curious.
Our pool is 25 yards long, which is the standard size for swim competitions. Olympic Size is 25 meters. Those laps can seem really long at times, so I know how you feel.
I don't use my supplemental oxygen while I swim or do aquacise. I bring it out to the pool area and have it nearby in case I need it. I don't usually need it when I'm swimming at the warm water therapy pool, or if I do, it's just for a minute or so. I think I could quit using it totally if I didn't live at such a high altitude.
I probably could have used it at the big pool today, since the pool is wider and longer, so I was swimming longer distances from end to end before being able to rest. Getting to my oxygen would have meant getting out of the pool and walking over to the bleacher where I put my stuff No way was I getting out of that pool until I was done with my laps! BRR! So, at the end of each lap, I stopped to rest and breathe deeply.
