Hi everybody. Well its been a month since my DS surgery. I am down 28 pounds since surgery and 51 pounds from my heaviest and I am happy about that. I am feeling pretty good. Getting used to my new plumbing so to speak and flourescent yellow poops (TMI I know, sorry). I have finished with the pureed foods and am making my way up the food chain to the soft foods. I am thinking about adding some vegetables in a couple of weeks but right now I am working hard to get my protein in all with food as much as possible. I try to get to 100 grams of protein each day.  And I have been religious about taking my vitamins and staying on top of my fluids. All in all a good month. Thanks for all of your support. Hugs. Jo

Hey Jo,        I am totally amazed that you can get all your liqids in at your stage out of the game. That was the most hard thing for me to do... And forget about the protein...lol That was so hard also... Maybe thats why my hair was starting to look like brittney spears by the year out lol... I just had so much to spare thank god lol... I will say what a good job on the weightloss!!! And the flourescent yellow??? Hmmmm....... Sounds a lil XFiles to me lol....I just stayed so nauseas after surgery for weeks and weeks till it all was an uphill battle...BUT..... no complications and that was ok with me... So you keep up the great work and see you on  Monday Weigh Ins lol....

Hugs Marge

Karma....What would life be without it?  250lbs gone! 410/160... Life's sweet!

Thanks Marge. I think the yellow poop is a side effect of the DS. The short common channel allows for a lot more of the bile and stomach juices to stay around when it gets to the colon so the poos take on that color. I must say it was a bit disconcerning at first but I am getting used to it. LOL.

Yes, I am ready to join in on the Monday weigh ins. That will keep me from becoming obsessively weighing in every day. Hugs to you to. Jo

Hi Jo, Congrats on your "graduation". I am wondering what it will be like trying to get so much protein from "real" food when the shakes make it so easy. I will probably keep a shake going every day. I find I'm not missing chewing, but I saw a commercial for steamed vegetables the other night and I can't stop thinking about steamed broccoli. Not something I adore, but I do like it. I have no idea when I can have it, I'll even do it pureed to stop obsessing. Oy veh!!!!!!!!!! -Julie
Practice safe eating - always use condiments.

Well sometimes it is okay with the food and sometimes I feel like I am gonna pop!! I ran out of the achive coffee, so when that arrives I will be using that again for 20 grams of protein and the protein crunch cereal I got is 26 grams of protein with only 3 carbs. So when I eat that for breakfast and a snack I am already almost halfway to 100 right there. I don't know about pureed broccoli but you might want to try low fat cheese and broccli soup mixed in the blender with a can of canned chicken. My nut suggested that and when I was on pureed foods I ate it and it was good!!! Hugs. Jo

Way to go Jo!  Time flies, doesn't it?  100 grams protein, wow.  I am really a protein slacker these days - I'm like Marge said, nauseas all the time.  Guacamole is a mainstay, but I am at least eating it on chicken now instead of just with a spoon (sometimes).  I should try that cereal I think.

Well you had that 2nd surgery to come back from and that is not easy. You should try the cereal. It really helps bump up the protein. Also the unjury chicken soup is very good too and high in protein. Are you getting your fluids in?

I am doing quite a bit better on fluids now that I started putting lime in my water.  I get to my goal most days, its just the eating thing.  I know I should buy another protein or something, maybe those shots, but so $$$ just to find out I can't stand them either.  I tried a bunch of samples and not a one was edible.  I haven't tried isopure yet though.  I was going to go pick up a few of those this weekend.
