My endoscopy yesterday

I underwent an endoscopy yesterday to see what the size of my pouch and stoma are and to see if I qualify for a revision of my stoma size.  I do not.  For the stoma tightening procedure to work, you pouch needs to be a specific shape.  Mine is not.  The doctor told me that my pouch is appropriately sized (meaning I haven't stretched it like I thought.)  But, my stoma (the opening to the intestine) is large, again what I suspected, food passes through very easily, resulting in hunger too quickly.  I'm not sure what the next step is.  I do know that I need to keep working on this as I feel like I've gone through too much to give up now. Sounds like you got some good news and some bad news.  Do you know whether it would be possible to put a lap band around your stoma?  I don't know if that's even possible, but I thought I'd throw out the idea.   Also did a general search at google and found the following -> http://www.bariatric-surgery.info/silastic-gastric-ring-surg ery.htm I wonder if a silastic gastric ring can be inserted in patients whose stomas have stretched?   Not sure whether any of this is helpful, but thought it may provide some options to explore.   Kellie

Hi Lori, Aren't endoscopys fun, I had a couple of them 10 years or so ago when I had my ulcers. Do you know if they can tighten up the stoma? I am sure you will get all the answers you need soon. I am glad you are proceding with this.. you have come so far... Keep us posted and keep the faith. Lynn

Lori, I'm sorry that your pouch didn't qualify for the stoma revision.  I'm praying and hoping that you will get an answer, and you are very correct in saying that you've been through too much to give up now.  I hope that answers will come your way very soon. Jennie
