Ugh Protein...

Have you tried the Instone (Stallone) chocolate pudding?  It's not wonderful like real chocolate pudding, but it's tolerable and has 20 gm of protein/100 calories per serving. I also used Unjury -- the chocolate stuff plus a shot or two of DaVinci sugar-free syrups (root beer flavor, coffee flavor, cinnamon flavor, whatever I was in the mood for at the time).  Mix with milk and a few ice cubes.  Yum! I loathed all the nectars, and Isopure.   How about the Atkins Advantage bars?  I like the chocolate peanut nougat one. I know folks who just used powdered milk added to regular milk in order to up the protein. Kix

Hello, Do you have an HEB or Central Market near you? You gotta try Mootopia milk. An 8 ounce glass has only 4 carbs and 14 proteins. It's lactose free. All my wls friends here is Houston love it. It's the fat free one with the blue lid. I mix it with the packets that are like crystal light but for milk. They are Kroger brand and come in strawberry or chocolate. They are sugar free too. Good luck. Diana

Let me know what you think about it. One of my best friends just had sugery on 09/11/07 and doesn't have an HEB real close but makes the drive to buy some. They sell chocolate too but it has a few more carbs. (((hugs))) Diana

Hey you guys tell me more about HEB and mootopia. Is it a dry powder or what. I am going to Houston on business and would love to get some to take home if possible. It turns out that Jenn guessed right and I have become lactose intolerant. So today I bought soy milk to mix my protein with. I like mine. It is one of the ice cream flavors carried by bariactic eating. My favorite is vanilla royale.

mmmm soy.  I actually often prefer soy milk, but it has a little bit less protein in it.  You should try this for a tasty fall drink - get some tazo chai tea bags and brew a few ounces of hot tea really strong.  Then add ice and vanilla soy and its a yummy iced chai latte with LOTS less sugar. Sorry about the lactose thing - mootopia is a fresh milk, but they reduce the lactose and raise the protein and nutrients - here is a copy and paste from their website:  (and HEB is a pretty cool grocery store in TX- central  market is a fancy HEB - on weekends here our central market has valet parking... we call it Gucci B)  HOUSTON – Milk often gets the boot given today’s health crazes, diets and allergies, although it really does do a body good. To enable more people to reap the nutritional benefits of milk, H-E-B has created a low-carb, lactose-free milk that alleviates many of these diet and health concerns. Using an innovative, patented process, H-E-B introduces MooTopia – delicious, real milk that keeps the flavor and creamy texture while enhancing the nutrients of traditional milk. MooTopia is available in 64, 32 and 11 ounce bottles exclusively at H-E-B beginning Wednesday, Sept. 22. Compared to traditional whole milk, H-E-B’s MooTopia features 60 percent less sugar, 35 percent more calcium, 75 percent more protein, 4 grams of carbs, is enhanced with vitamins A and D and lactose free. MooTopia also is substantially creamier and more flavorful than traditional milk. MooTopia skim milk is creamier than traditional 2 percent milk, while MooTopia 2 percent is creamier than traditional whole milk. “MooTopia is real milk, only better,” said Bob McCullough, group vice president of manufacturing, H-E-B. “Through H-E-B’s patented process developed by H-E-B partner, Select Milk Producers, we now can remove lactose, reduce the carbs and increase its nutritional value, while increasing milk’s delicious flavor.” The numerous benefits of MooTopia make it a nutritional option for many people with health concerns. In addition to being a choice for lactose-intolerant individuals, the reduced sugar in MooTopia provides a smart dairy choice for people with diabetes. Increased calcium makes it ideal for those looking to strengthen their bones, such as children, post-menopausal women and senior citizens. For the health-conscious looking to reduce their carbohydrate consumption, MooTopia’s carb count is a fraction of what is found in traditional milk. The 75 percent increase in protein benefits athletes and active individuals who need protein to build strength. With all of these nutritional benefits, MooTopia still preserves milk’s delicious, rich flavor. Because of this taste, MooTopia received some of the highest flavor scores of any product ever tested by customers with in-store sampling conducted by the H-E-B Consumer Insights Center. MooTopia is produced at H-E-B’s Houston Milk Plant and is available only at H-E-B. H-E-B currently operates more than 300 stores in Texas and Northern Mexico. Started in 1905 in Kerrville, Texas, H-E-B is the largest privately held company in Texas with more than 60,000 employees. Headquartered in San Antonio, the company is one of the largest and fasting growing food and drug chains in the United States with sales nearing $11 billion.
