As some of you know, I've been trying to get approved for weight loss surgery for what seems like forever.  I've run into some problems and when I call medicaid they give me the run around.  For example, I called the main number I was given and asked them if there was a decision made yet. I was told that they couldnt give me any information. My pcp would have to notify them.  THEN, they tell me that I really oughtta consider just 'dieting on your own. Most people use wls as an easy way out''. This is the 2nd time I've been told that by a medicaid person.  I contacted my pcp and she kept getting voicemails and nobody was calling her back. I cant believe that I am having this much trouble with a place of business such as medicaid.  Does anybody know of ANYBODY i can call, write to, go see.....do whatever, to get a reply.  If this doesnt make any sense to you, please disregard. Cause honestly, it doesnt make sense to me. For those with any info,  I sure would appreciate it.

In my surgeon's office, if you are on medicaid they put the paperwork through for you, just like with insurance.  Does your surgeon do that?  You might want to go through the surgeon's office instead of the pcp's - they could have more experience working the system.  Best of luck! Jenn

Gee I am on Maine medicade and my decision was to me in 2 weeks. The docotrs office did everything. Of course if they are smart they see down the road money savings for them. I was on like 14 meds before surgery and now am on 2 !!! And with my Blood pressure normal and all it will hopefully keep me healthier. I'm not sure but that should be papers that your doc sends in. Our clinic here is known for saving the state money because of the healtheir patients afterwards. I would let your surgeon know though. Good luck !!
