Good Saturday Afternoon! It's been a busy day already, and the start of a busy weekend. I went to Aquafit this morning, and then taught 4 hours of swim lessons, so I spent 5 hours in the pool all together.  Tonight, we have our married couples date night at church, and we will bowl for 2 hours after enjoying a dinner together.   Tomorrow, I have lots of errands to do, but I know that I will also get a nap because I'm so tired from being in the pool. What did you do to move your body this weekend???

Thanks for opening the gym today.  It has been hectic and I just got home. I knew it would be a crazy day today, so I did my one-mile walk first thing this morning.  Fell out of bed, threw on some clothes, and headed for the park.  No shower or warmup first, and I forgot my Icy Hot.  I'm paying the price now, my knees are super sore!  I did my walk, and my stride must be getting a bit longer, as it only took me 3100 steps to walk a mile around the lake instead of 3500. We went to the theater today (I did go home and shower first!), and I saw, "You Can't Take It With You."  My sister saw it a couple of weeks ago as part of her subscription series and highly recommended it.  I enjoyed it a lot!  It was 2 1/2 hours of laughter and chaos.  She saw, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" at the other theater in the performing arts complex and she left at intermission because it sucked donkeys 100%. I bought my seat online and thought I'd gotten an aisle seat -- I'm a bit claustrophobic and prefer sitting near the aisle.  Well, my seat was dead on center stage -- right in the middle of the first section, right in the middle of the row.  Good thing I'm not 10 lbs fatter, or it would have been a tight fit.  The seat was great in terms of seeing the play, but not so great in terms of my leg room and personal comfort (felt hemmed in). I made pulled pork in the crock pot, and my sister ate a big snack at the theater, so now she's not hungry!    Guess she will get leftovers tomorrow, I'm eating my share tonight! It's going to be cold tomorrow, with predictions of light snow .  I have work to do, anyway, so I will probably forego tomorrow's walk and walk on Monday. Kix

Kix, I understand totally about the middle seat thing!  I am just now beginning to be able to see in a seat other than the end seat, and I can only move one or maybe two seats from the end!  I would NOT be happy in the middle of a row!  Since I'm smaller now, the personal space issue is lessening, but it is still and issue, and I hate feeling like I cannot stretch out my legs.  My knees begin to ache and it is NO fun. Sorry to hear of your pulled pork reaction -- so far (knock on wood), I haven't had problems like that with any meat.  I haven't tried pork chop, but I have had carnitas, so similar to your pulled pork in texture.  I am able to have ham without a problem. Isn't it fun to see how little changes, like our stride changing, become noticable after awhile.  I know that I can walk farther, faster, and with less problems now.  I don't get winded very easily - which is a HUGE plus to me, and my feet do not hurt!

I got in some nice, long workouts this weekend. I was going to be in Colorado Springs for the weekend but I decided to spend the weekend studying and trying to get caught up. It's amazing how missing one week can take forever to catch up on! I've been able to get some extra sleep, do a little shopping and of course, get in my workouts. It's been nice. On Saturday I did 45 minutes on the treadmill, doing the jog/walk combo. I am so completely NOT a natural runner and this has been such a challenge for me. I would much prefer to hit a nice, steep mountain than do this. But I committed to this 10k in May of next year and I figure the challenge is good for me. This morning I woke up to LOTS of snow, more than I thought we would get. So, I had to clear off my car then head over to the gym - after the short little jaunt I was soaked! But I warmed up pretty quickly,  I did 22 minutes on the elliptical, 20 minutes climbing a mountain on the treadmill and then 40 minutes of weight training. I think the snow scared everyone off, there was no one there - kind of nice! Now I'm off to do MORE studying - this is becoming my "project from hell" ala Kix - I am trying to memorize about 500 german words, reciting them over and over again. I'm dreaming and thinking about German all the time. My head hurts... alot.

I'm a selfish friend, but I have to say I'm glad you had more snow than we did.  I'm about a mile from Red Rocks, and we had about two inches of snow.  It's already melted.  Even so, I took it as a personal affront that it snowed at all.  I'm perfectly happy with fall weather.  I wonder if there's a way to have it snow only at the ski resorts?  I was sick as a dog last night from the pulled pork.  I have confirmed that pork is no longer my friend.  I felt like a new postop, hunched over the commode begging to hork so I'd feel better.  Two large mugs of hot tea later, I finally horked at 12:30 this morning.    I was so grateful! We went out to the airport this morning to find out why our Wally Park cards don't work when we tried to register them online.  It was snowing like crazy when we left the house at 9:30 (so much so that we opted to take Colfax all the way to Airport Blvd and hit Pena from there), but by the time we reached the airport, it had pretty much slowed down. We stopped at El Tapatio for lunch.  I had a taco salad and my sister had caldo de res (I should have had that instead, it was a perfect choice for a cold Sunday!).  The mariachi band was there today and we nearly went deaf from the sheer volume of their serenading!   I'm making excellent progress on my PFH.  Good luck with the German (hm, that sounds obscene, doesn't it?)  Why don't you take something more useful in today's economy, like Mandarin?     Your slogging through German reminded me of when I was studying Japanese in my early 20s.  I pick up languages easily, but I wanted to weep every time I had to learn another set of Kanji (characters).  What I wanted to do was write an essay, "How Memorizing Kanji is Ruining My Life," but I never got around to it.  I never did become adept at Kanji, either, which made me a functional illiterate when I went to Japan.  Kix

PJ, Sounds like you were able to stay active, and productive at the same time!  I get so intimidated by the elliptical machine!  I don't know if it is a co-ordination issue, or something else, but I have a HARD time using that machine.  It is like a torture chamber to me! I can understand your head hurting.  Reminds me of studying french in highschool. You will get through all of this work!
