I'm within spitting distance of being finished with the Project from Hell, which is why I'm still up at this late hour (for me, anyway).   Stupid Rockies must have eaten too much chowda and lobsta in Boston and it gave them short-term amnesia.  Last time I saw a team forget how to play a game, it was when the 49ers beat the Broncos 55-10.  I'm expecting the Rockies to get off the dime and remember WHY they are in Boston! I'm opening the gym early.  Since I will be finished with the PFH, I will celebrate by taking a brisk walk, going to the rec center to do strength training, and whatever else pops into my mind.  I do have to clean the house as well -- I've let it go lately and it's not even passing my standards anymore (which are way more lax than Dunny's!  ) What did you do to move your body today? Kix PS:  I'm going out of town beginning Friday, 10/26 and will return late Tuesday, 10/30.  We are going to Vegas for the one-month memorial for my BIL (and to gamble, of course).  I'll need someone to open the gym while I'm gone so everyone keeps moving every day!

Good morning, Kix.  Glad your done with the PFH and can get back to your regular exercise groove.  It'll feel good to move after sitting for so long click, click, clicking on the mouse.  Between me and the other regular posters, we'll keep the gym open while you're in Vegas.  Today's a 2-visit day for me at the gym.  I'll lift weights for upper and lower body at lunch, then go back for cardio after work.  Fun stuff -  Kellie

I did my walk around the lake today, it took longer than usual because it's a nice day and there were lots of dogs to stop and pet along the way. I didn't get to the rec center, I have too much to do before we leave tomorrow (at dawn o'clock, the airport is practically in Nebraska). It did feel good to get up and walk today.  I thought about doing two miles, but I'm breaking in a new pair of walking shoes and my feet weren't exactly happy.  Also, I bought new ear buds for my Ipod and I put the wrong size rubber tips on them, so they kept falling out of my ears. I'm looking forward to walking the Strip!  Hm, I worded that badly, I didn't mean THAT kind of walking!   Kix

Good morning Kix,  Have fun in Vegas, remember what goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas . I will be going to Reno the end of next month and plan on have a good time too. Well I am back at it up with the chickens and the weight is coming back off.  I enjoy watching that scale move in the right direction. I think a lot of my  weight gain was due to me not drinking enough water because now I am losing again.  Can't weight to get back to were I was which is only about 7 pounds away.  Anyway this morning i went to the gym did 65 min of elliptical and 5 min on the bike to cool off. I am going to get a trainer so I can learn some toneing exercises.  Have a great day and remember to drink or eat the protien.  Sophia

OK, are you messing with me (the name change and all)?    I haven't been to Vegas since the early 80s, so I expect I won't even recognize it.  I used to go to Reno and Tahoe often when I lived in Oakland -- it's fun taking the train up there from Jack London Square. 65 minutes of elliptical?  I honor you!  Kix

Morning Kix, I went to the pool for water aerobics this morning.  I was only there about 40 minutes because I was running late for class.  I had to take care of some phone calls for my homeschooling group - I serve at the school administrator.   I'm off to make pillowcases for our troops.  These are sent out in care packages by the Blue Star Moms as a way to bring some comfort of home to our troops. Have a great day.  I can open the gym tomorrow - Tuesday.

Jennie, I've heard of Gold Star Mothers, but not Blue Star Mothers.  Is it a different branch of the service? I was reading the newspaper today and there was an article about a young Marine who was killed on his sixth tour in Iraq.  Sixth!   That's wonderful, making them pillowcases.  Stitch some love in there, too. Hi Kix, The Blue Star Mom's group we are working with all have sons in the Air Force.  I don't know if they are specific to the AF or not.  The lady who started the pillowcase sewing group in my area has a grandson who is in the AF.  She made him a pillowcase out of patriotic fabric for Christmas last year.  Her daughter, the mom, said that there were 12 men in his squad, and 50 in his tent.  Maybe they could make the pillowcases for the whole squad, or maybe the whole tent.  So they set out to make 50, then decided to do them for the whole unit - 425 men and women.  Well, it has ended up that we have worked on them all year, sending them off to different units, squads, etc, and have mave over 2700 pillowcases!  We just wanted to encourage our troops at a time that there has been so much negativitiy towards the war effort and such.  Now, we are using the scraps of all the fabrics and making lap quilts for those in the VA hospitals. Each pillowcase/lap quilt comes with a hand written note from a child, or a family or an individual expressing thanks to the troops, and letting them know that they are loved and supported.  It's been a neat thing to be involved in this past year. Many of the soldiers have written back saying that their pillowcase brings home to them, and they have all commented on the smell!  They are just washed with a bit of fabric softner, but the SMELL reminds them of home and safety.  Many have commented at how it makes their bed feel personal instead of military issue. Anyway, I'm glad that I've taken the time to do this and be involved.
