You gals are ALL doing great...losses or gains, its about your mindset and your human side that makes for success, that is what you ALL possess.  I am still on the Medifast. Birthday week left me with only a 3 lb. loss due to my weakness for the LOVE of my life (Mac & Cheese). But I am not beating myself up over it. The MD appts. & tests seem endless but I am only a little over 2 weeks until surgery Can anyone suggest what to take to the hospital, like something maybe you didn't take that you wish you did? ANY tips would be appreciated. I am gaining so much information and help from all of you and I can't thank you enough for that. Has anyone else heard on the news that the death rate is rising with WLS patients? Geez...just what I need to hear!!  NOT!  Hugs to all... Thanks Marge...I'll stock up on lip balm LOL.  Yeah I did get some packages of jello from my precious granddaughter (thats Karyn's daughter who had the surgery 1/05) She said, Grandma, you're gonna need this!  Bless her sweet heart!   I see the cardiologist tomorrow which I am scared about. I pray NOTHING prevents or postpones my surgery!!!!

I am with Marge... All I really needed was chapstick...and I didn't bring it, so my mom had to spend a fortune for it in the gift shop... The hospital supplied everything else.. Like Marge said forget about reading... the meds will entertain you for the first day and a half... Good luck and get ready for a great ride. Lynn

Thanks Julie...I really appreciate the advice and support. That "stone zombie" part has me but I guess its a good option over pain, huh? LOL  I had my pre-admission session today at the hospital and the nurse told me I would be given a push button drug controller. Whooppeeeeeeeeee LOL Seriously....hope I don't need much.  Would you believe I still do not have my c-pap machine? Its been a week since my 2nd sleep study and no one has even contacted me as they said would happen. Part of me is glad. LOL  Anyway...you are so sweet to share your thoughts on what to bring. Thanks again.  HUGS

Chapstick, my ipod, and a couple of pairs of underwear were pretty important for me (I started aunt flo in the hospital after the second surgery).  Underwear are handy anyway, IMO, I sweated a lot from the morphine and walking and having underwear helped keep me from chafing (TMI sorry).  I also think wet wipes are handy - baby wipes or whatever- for wiping and also for cleaning up face/neck/hands in bed when you feel gross.  Granted for the two surgeries I spent a total of 9 days in the hospital with only two showers so i felt super nasty - you woin't be in that long.  I took a book but I was too drugged up to read it and would fall asleep.  If you have CPAP, your mask of course.   Other than that, I think less is better - wear something comfortable that will be easy to dress in when you leave, and shoes that aren't hard to get on and off.  I wore a pull over dress and slippers to the hospital.  I don't know if your room will have a fan, but mine did and I couldn't have lived without that sucker.  The morphine makes you hot!  Good luck as you get prepared for the big day.  Three pounds is GREAT!  You did better than me and I'm post-op ;)
