Financial Assistance

Can anyone tell me where to start on getting approval from an insurance company for WLS? My husband has been disabled since 2005 and is now on disability income. I work for AT&T with Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage. He needs the surgery to save his life. His BMI is 63 and he has Sleep Apnea Degenerative Joint Disease and Asthma. Insurance states that it the employeer that has requested that the surgery not be covered so I appealed to my employeer and was denied........ HELP!!!!!!!

Is your husband on Medicare?  If so, Medicare covers it.  If he isn't on Medicare but is Medicare eligible, he shoudl transfer off your insurance and sign up for Medicare A & B.   You might also post this question in the Insurance forum to see if people have any suggestions as to how to get around an employer exclusion.
