Karen, I agree about the part where you say "the best part is that endorphin rush when it is done!" How true is that?!  Some days when I am dragging my azz to the rec center, I think about how good and energized I'll feel when I'm done, and so far, it's enough to keep me motivated. Crank that treadmill up to a Mt. Everest incline and you won't be bored! Kix

I use the treadmill because I want to keep a constant speed and incline.... that said, one of our main posters on the TX msg board told us this week that he's started adding in a minute or two of jogging during his morning walk.... Smart me thinks, hey, I can do that on the treadmill!  NOT!  Between the flapping thigh skin and the bouncing boobies I liked to have killed myself..... LOL

I didn't report in yesterday, but we did get a lot of exercise.  We got about 3/4 of the Christmas shopping done, so we walked a ton through the stores.  Also, I did 20 minutes on the recumbent bike.  I am about to go walking this morning, as soon as I get my shoes on, I'm aiming for 1/2 hour.  I also hope to ride the bike or maybe just clean the living room and bedroom really well.  There is a ton of laundry to do, and all of that folding usually makes me feel like I got an arm workout! On a good note, I had this pair of size 30 windbreaker type pants - they are the smallest 30s in existence, because I'm fitting in a lot of other 30s and 28s but these things still won't zip.  Anyway, I bought them for $5 a few years ago on clearance without even trying them on.  I've tried to pass them on to my friend (size 24) and they didn't fit her either.  They are just super small in the butt and stomach.... so I've been trying them on once a week and this morning I finally got them zipped.  I looked like a stuffed sausage and I probably couldn't sit down, but they zipped!  I hope in another couple of weeks I can wear them.  They have laces at the bottom and are really stupid looking, like genie cargo pants, but I will wear them proudly even if I look like an idiot.

Christmas seems to be early this year -- one of our local radio stations used to start playing Christmas music 30 days before Christmas.  They started playing it two days ago, and I'm already sick of it.  I guess it would help if they had more than one Christmas CD programmed -- I have heard, "Christmas in Colorado" (or whatever the heck that song is called) about 85 times. When you are able to fit in the goofy pants, please post a photo!  I had a similar experience years ago with a pair of "MC Hammer" pants. Kix

Hiya, Kix.  I was hoping to make it to the gym at lunch time, but conference calls and meetings conspired against me.  So I'll go do cardio after work - will probably visit my old friend, the elliptical trainer.  I've been doing the rowing machine, but I have blisters turning into callouses on my hands and they are sore today.  Regardless, I'm going to get in 50 minutes of some form of cardio! Well, I had a great workout today at the rec center.  I did 30 minutes of in-line skating machine on level 3.  I did all my strength training machines (50-70 lbs depending on the machine, and 10-20 reps depending on how much weight I was lifting).  I finished up with 21 minutes of treadmill, starting at a level incline (1.7 speed) and increasing it 2 degrees every minute until I hit 12, then I stayed on 12 for about four minutes, then took it down to 2 again for a couple of minutes.  Repeat until 20 minutes were up, then did 1 minutes of cool down at 1.0 speed. I had to run a few errands, and I was craving some serious protein, so I went to Costco and bought a rotisserie chicken.  You can get an entire chicken for 4.99, and it would cost almost that for me to get chicken strips at Mickey D's.  My sister is sick to death of chicken, but I figure I can freeze the white bits and use it later in soup or white chili.  I eat only the dark meat.  Yum!  Did lots of walking at Costco, too.  I thought about trying to go for a walk as well, but now that I've had my lunch, I don't want to!  Perhaps I will punish myself for not wanting to go for a walk by doing some chores. I had a test this morning, and almost decided to study rather than workout. But, good sense prevailed and I decided I needed that break after an all-night cram session. Lord, I haven't had one of those in a long time and I'm feeling it - I am definitely not 20 anymore! It was 40 minutes of running/walking this morning, mostly running. This program I am following really does work, I can tell I am stronger and able to run much faster. I'm sometimes tempted to just skip a few steps and run an entire 5K, but I keep reminding myself how much I hurt the last time I did that and that's enough for me to stop . If anyone is ever interested in taking up running, shoot me a note and I'll direct you to this great website. They have great training programs to ease into it. School is on break for the next week and a half and all I plan on sleeping, sleeping and doing some more sleeping. And I'll add a few extra workouts in there too
