We had snow and icy fog all weekend in my neck of Denver, so I didn't get to do very much exercise other than shoveling snow.  Too cold to walk outside for very long, and the roads were too slippery to drive to the mall to walk. The gym is open today.  Depending on the weather, I will walk at the mall, go to the rec center, or give my sister's "Walk Away the Pounds" DVD a try.  I'm feeling restless from not being active enough over the weekend. What did you do to move your body today? Kix

It was misting rain and 32 degrees when I got to the gym/work this morning and they had the heat on high!  I was really sweating to the oldies! 15 mins elliptical 30 mins lower body weight training 15 mins elliptical I need to add in some stretching exercises somewhere as the cold weather is making my joints feel stiff.... I just still have issues with trying to get down in the floor and back up.  In my mind I still think I will have trouble getting back up or look like a beached whale, but I just need to get over it and get it done... LOL

When I weighed 600 lbs, I fell and couldn't get up.  The fire department had to come and it took six burly firefighters to help me back up.   Not a looker in the bunch, either, but I digress... As a result, I'm too afraid to even try and get on the floor now, even though I'm pretty sure I could get up without any trouble (well, unless my knees snapped off at the joints). My rec center is usually too cold, but one day, they fooled us and cranked the heat so high that it felt like summer in Texas.  Shortly after that, I caught my cold.  Must be their fault!   Kix

Hi, Kix.  It's frustrating when the weather is crappy and it keeps us from our regular routines.  Hope things thaw out soon so you can get back into your groove.   Today's a 2-a-day for me -- weights at lunch, cardio after work -- and boy do I need it.  Not sure exactly what's going on, but the scale went up over 6 pounds in the past 2 days!  I haven't changed anything about my food intake, although I may have eaten more salt than usual, so am hoping this is just fluid retention.  I sure hope so!  Anyway, higher numbers on the scale mean I must hit the gym!!! Good luck to everyone finding the time, energy and motivation to move it today!!! Kellie

Kellie, I do hate the craptacular weather, especially since the way things usually work here in Denver is that it snows, and then melts right away.  When it actually decides to linger, it's quite annoying.

My exercise routine is out of whack.  I need to plan alternate routines for inclement weather.  It just sort of caught me off guard -- I take it as a personal affront when it snows, not sure why!

This weekend really sucked - the weather was no fun at all. I got out a couple of times but my car is snow challenged and all I did was get frustrated that it wasn't doing what I wanted it to do. At least it's beginning to melt... a little. I was really sore from my workout yesterday (I ran an entire 5K!!! It took me almost 40 minutes but I did it!!) - my glutes were killing me when I was done so I took it easy this morning - did 10 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of weights and lots of stretching and I feel much better. Now that the semester is done with I'm going to really kick up the workouts and push myself - i've got some good stuff planned!

My car is also snow challenged, plus my driving skills are snow challenged as well.  It didn't help when the stupid plow came by and pretended to plow one side of the road.  I could have done a more thorough job with our little snow blower.  Idiot. 5K?  Congrats!  You'll be doing the Ironman next.  I would like to do the Ironman, but I'm going to have to start with something easier, like the Bolder Boulder or the Bay to Breakers.  Easier, ha!  I need to start training now. Its chilly here today so I did 30 minutes on the recumbent bike.  If we don't go get me signed up for the gym tomorrow I think my dear darling husband is going to get strangled.  He put it off all weekend.  He doesn't want to go to the gym - and I don't care if he goes or not.  I'm not going to force him, I just want him to scoot his butt in there, sign me up, and at least have a look around before he poopoo's it.  *grumble grumble* I'll also be cleaning for the rest of the afternoon, so that should be physical.

Sounds like the hubby is being difficult.  Does he think if you don't sign up, he won't have to go?  He doesn't have to go, anyway, unless he wants, but he'd better sign you up or else.  Don't make me come down there when the weather is bad!  Kix

Okay, first time I can post here. Hoooraaaaaaaaah. I swam and played around in the hotel pool for a half hour. Tonight we are going to either do the treadmill or recumbant bike. Wish me luck.
