Newbie to this board...

Hi there all,    I usually frequent the RNY board, but was suggested to visit here by dunnybocter I am almost one month out and have a long way to go. My BMI is pretty sad really and was just looking for others who perhaps had an equally long road ahead of them. There are times when I feel so alone in this, when I feel like I will never meet goal, when I feel like a lost cause. Then there are other times when I know I will and can do this. I feel bipolar now, lol.  I migrate to "soft foods" on Christmas (just in time for my dad's famous turkey!!!). I am struggling to get all of my liquids in, I think that's the hardest part for me. I used to drink so much before surgery, but now I am hardly ever thirsty and get full on liquids pretty fast and really have a tough time forcing myself to get it all in. How do you manage? What works for you? I start work on the 27th and am feeling pretty unsure about returning. I still feel tired a lot and am afraid it will be all the more challenging to get all of my needs met while trying to catch up on lost time at work. Any advice would help. Thanks in advance! If this board is even a fraction as supportive as the RNY board, I know I came to the right place. OH has been a lifesaver :) ~Farrah

Here is to your great success!  You wil ldo it just fine my BMI when i started wa i beleive 57   i was 384 at 5'9.  I am now 198 or less, i just recenlty uped my work outs, and my close are getting loose again, i went from size 28 tight to 11 juniors loose now,  Not shabby!  Big key take your vitamins, daily, and your calcium,  also get you fluids in , and protein first always,  I am in the process of getting pictures put on the website.  so hopefully soon,.  This is the best thing i have done for myself, you will be very pleased with yourself.  Son't get stressed about how fast weight is coming off, just make good food decisions you will do great.  Keep in touch, it would be nice to have someone else to go through this journey with. Hey!  Glad to see you came over For liquids, I had a really hard time at first with water, but I found that adding a little lemon or lime juice helped it go down easier.  I can tell you, fortunately, that getting in all my liquids got A LOT easier by month 3.  Now its not too hard to drink 4-10oz in a sitting, as long as I don't drink TOO fast or take big swallows.  You get better at it, and your tummy gets more cooperative about liquids.  At least mine has.  I don't add lemon anymore but I do prefer to drink things ice cold or very hot.  Room temperature liquid is still a challenge.  I know what you mean about feeling like you'll never meet goal.  It seems so far away!  I feel like that sometimes too, but then I look back and see I've lost 75 lbs in the past 4 months, and 110 overall.  What's another 200?  Haha..  No matter how much you lose or how fast or slow it goes, remember that every pound gone is one step closer to being healthy.  And most of the time, when we are busy, life moves by so quickly - a month flies by and vioila 20 lbs lighter.  Its taken me a while to get my energy back, and I took a long time off of work (I ended up having 2 surgeries in 2 weeks, so I was pretty much pooped).  I am fortunate to have a job where I can work from home and take it slow, but honestly, its only been in the past few weeks that I've felt 100%.  Be patient and don't push yourself too hard.  You will probably be tired for a while.  A big part of that I think was finally getting all my water in, and also starting better quality vitamins.  Once I switched to bariatric advantage vitamins, and added a B complex and iron, I started perking up within days..  lesson learned don't skimp on the vitamins and stay on top of your blood work!  I hope that going back to work is a smooth transition for you.  And soft foods, yay!  Best Wishes, and Merry Christmas! Jenn

Hi Jenn :)    Thanks for the support and for suggesting this board. It's amazing how far everyone has come. It gives me hope! I LOVE bariatric advantage vitamins. I take 2 multi and 2 iron a day and the B12 sublingual once a week. I am currently taking tums, 2x a day as recommended by my surgeons office, but since reading the boards I hear we need calcium citrate so I purchased the losenges from bariatric advantage. I'm going to bring this to the attention of my doctor along with any of my other concerns on my 1 mth appt. I still have my g tube in (a feeding tube). My doc keeps it in for 5-6 wks post surgery to ensure you can supplement your fluid and food intake if need me. I can say when I started using it, I hated it. Now, I am happy I have the option to get fluids/proteins another way. It helps on days (like today) when I am hit with a bout of nausea with no desire to eat or drink. It's funny, I had to force myself NOT to eat before, now it's opposite. Who would've thought? lol By the way, you are doing awesome! Congrats on your success so far. You WILL make it :) WE can do it together. Thanks again,  -Farrah
