I have been lurking for 1 1/2 years
I hope you are not offended. I do want you to know how much you have helped me through the process and thank you. My surgery was 8/27/07 and I have lost 105 lbs including the 30 lbs I lost before my surgery (insurance requirement). "My Story" is complete but I still have to figure out how to add an avatar. Honestly, I feel like I know some of you better than my neighbors. I hope we can be friends.
Welcome to our little corner of the internet, DonnaKay, and no one here will be offended, trust me. We all have our own comfort levels, and some folks are just happier being lurkers. But others, like me, feel compelled to chime in about pretty much everything.
The folks in this forum are super friendly and supportive, so feel free to ask questions or chime in on other posts. Congrats on your 105 pound loss, and keep up your great work! I look forward to learning more about you and your journey -
Kellie
Welcome Donnakay - and I'm glad that you unlurked. It can be scary sometimes to open up on the boards, but this is a fairly safe place.
We are looking forward to getting to know you better. Please join in on the weigh in and exercise threads as well.
As you get farther and farther into your weighloss journey, you may think that you can "handle" it alone now, BUT, I've found that is when I need more and more support. I have to stay accountable in my eating and exercise so that I do not slip, and this place is good for that. It is also helpful to build those relationships so that you can ask "is this normal", etc.
I had the hardest time editing the avatars at first, and am just now getting better at that. My daughter was wanting to do that for me in photoshop, but couldn't bring herself to cut down the resolution! She is a photographer. I have been using the Microsoft Digital Image package for that editing, and have found it easy to do there. Try some different things so that you can get the pixel requirements, and the 20kb size as well. If you post on the main board, there is someone who will edit your photo for you, and email the corrected size back to you. Some people have found that helpful.
Hope to see you around more!

Hi Donnakay!
Welcome to unlurking :) Congratulations on your success - you had surgery a couple weeks after me so we are just about at the same point in all of this journey. I look forward to reading your posts and getting to know you.
All the best,
Jenn
