All I want to do is eat food with no protein!  Think its in my Head? tonight I forced down beef but thr protein free Sushi went down with room to spare. Eggs are about the only proteins that don't make me not want to eat at all. I was reading a post before about full fat butter and it made me nauseous. It wasn't like that before my surgery,  I used to love a nice big steak or bbq chicken. Now if its to greasy it makes me sick but before I eat it so I doubt its the fat level, If its to dry its to hard to eat.  any ideas? Thanks  Estelle

Carbs go down easier and I swear when I eat them all I want is more carbs!  I haven't wanted meat much lately either, chicken and milk are pretty much it lately.  I passed on ground beef, turkey meatballs, eggs, and steak last week.  We have a lot of leftovers in the fridge because I would just put it away and get a piece of fruit.  Fatty things usually don't make me nauseas UNTIL I eat them.  It all depends.  I eat some carbs, I don't limit them too heavily (under 100g) but I try to make them from fruit, veggies, and whole grains as much as possible so I am getting something from them besides more carb cravings.  Other suggestions - protein cereals, and maybe protein bars if you like them.  That way you can skip meat until you want it again and have some carby crunchiness with your protein... and I know you like lentils.  Lentils and beans with cheese are great options! I was raised vegetarian, and I used to skip meat about half of the days of the week.  I'm still tempted to fairly often, and you can still get your protein in, its just a little harder.

Hi, Estelle!  Could be a combination of head issues and a slightly disagreeable pouch.  Even at 27+ months out, my pouch is much more sensitive to really dense proteins - beef, pork, chicken, etc.  I still eat them, but I try to eat slowly because if I don't, sometimes my pouch will cramp up for about 10 minutes, which is pretty uncomfortable.   My solution is that I eat quite a bit of low-fat dairy products to meet my daily protein requirements.  These things sit well in my pouch, plus provide a reasonable amount of protein. * Cottage cheese mixed w/ sugar-free Smuckers preserves, sometimes with fresh blueberries or strawberries * Light yogurt, sometimes with a little granola or a serving of Kellogg's AllBran Buds stirred in (the AllBran has 13 grams of fiber in 1/3 c. for 70 calories - helps keep things moving, if you get my drift) * 1-2 oz. low-fat cheese w/ an apple or a 1/2 serving of whole-wheat crackers * smoked turkey deli meat (usually on an open-faced sandwich made w/ whole-grain bread, mustard, a slice of low-fat cheese, and some alfalfa sprouts, leaf lettuce, or sliced cucumber for crunchy freshness It is definitely easier and more comfortable to eat carbs, unless you overdo it and they swell up in your pouch - then it's ouch!!!  But many carbs just pass on through your pouch, ultimately leading you to eat more calories because your appetite is not sated.   You may also have better luck with dark-meat chicken than breast meat.  Although it's fattier, your pouch may tolerate it better.  And you can reduce the fat by removing the skin and all visible fat.   Good luck finding something proteins your pouch is willing to happily accept!!! I can tell you that eating carbs is the devil!  I eat carbs, and then I want more carbs.  It's a vicious circle.  The best thing to do is try not to eat too many carbs in a day.  For example, I ate 15,000 pretzels yesterday.  They had absolutely no nutritional value, and the salt made me gain 2 lbs. I have problems with pork, it just won't sit at all.  I also cannot eat white meat chicken, but dark meat chicken is fine.  Fish, no problem.  Steak, beef, yum!  I make sure my ground beef is around 91% to 94% lean, anything with more fat makes me ill, and if I eat buffalo (which is extremely lean), I make sure not to overcook it.   I'm allergic to egg yolk and can't eat eggs.  I'm not brave enough to try Egg Beaters, I don't want to find out they have the same protein that egg yolk has and thus end up in the ER.  I developed this allergy as an adult, and it kills me that I can't eat eggs, because I love them. Why don't you eat sashimi?  Raw fish is loaded with protein (and such tasty, wonderful protein, too) Kix, drooling now

Well I eat Sushi but the veggie variety lol how do you eat the sashimi? I talked about it today with a friend of mine. I decided that since I like sushi in the vegetable variety that I would maybe try the tuna one is that sashimi? lol  i'm scared to eat it lol, I'm not even fond of med rare beef much less raw fish lol.  Eggs I eat everyday for breakfast mostly  I do like ground Turkey. Carbs are the devil!!!!!   and I have hypoglycemia which makes it even worse so when I don't get a few carbs in I cry and act like a girl! lol   But if I could just get off them completely I wouldn't need them at all. I really dont think I eat that many but then I turn around and eat 65 in one serving I should be eating like 30 a day really to curb the hypo.  Thanks!  Estelle

The more carbs you eat the more your body craves them. I'm blessed in that they, for the most part still make me sick. 98% of my carbs come from fruits and veggies. Too much fat, too much sugar  I stay away from. One bite of sausage was the very first thing I dumped on, and it was terrible. Try some soft moist protein filled food like chili, it works for me everytime. Since you like veggie su****ry Edemame, I love them steamed!

Drier meats are best eaten with canned diced tomatoes (with juice) or fat free gravies.  Thats what Dr. Clarke's office told me.  I get the shortcuts southwestern chicken chunks...spread refried beans (fat free) on the bottom of a small pan, then add the chicken and a little shredded cheddar...then bake it for a few minutes until the cheese melts. Its got the protein and its yummy!  Try it!  HUGS  Jeanine
