Hello fellow BMI over 50ers! Good morning. Are you sleepy? I'm sleepy. This is kind of funny (and disgusting) so feel free to skip it - I have slept sooo bad the last 2 nights because my husband has had the worst gas. The first night I heard it so I'd wake up. Last night, I kept waking up smelling sulfur/sewage (I used to work in a water treatment lab and it smelled like that in our room last night, YUCK!). I didn't know it was him, but I kept waking up because of the smell. I got up and checked both bathrooms to make sure we didn't have a plumbing explosion or something. I couldn't figure it out until I finally heard one. Ugh. I am so glad we don't share a blanket!! You just gotta love living with someone, sigh.
So anyway, I love starting your morning with gross stories. I should do it more often
My plan for the day is to eat a lot less than yesterday. I pushed into 1600 calories yesterday after two tapioca cups in the evening. Time to get it back into the 1200 range. Also, its a vegetarian day I think.
B - grande latte (2% milk)
S - atkins peanut caramel nougat bar
L - Chick-fil-a side salad with light italian dressing, sunflower seeds, and croutons (this is my my version of Kix's taco kick)
S - myoplex 17oz rtd shake
D - lean cuisine 3 cheese stuffed rigatoni
S - 1c grapes, 1 small can v8

Skipped the gym last night, definitely going tonight.

Ah, the stinky spouse syndrome. In my house, I'm usually the offending party - one of the side effects of my surgery that seems to affect me worse than others, especially when I eat more carbs... I've learned that I should never eat lentil soup and then be around other people; it's not safe for anyone involved! Hope things start coming up roses in your neck of the woods soon -
Aunt Flo is now 3 days late and I've been carb-craving like crazy. Gave in this morning (see breakfast), but am going to do my best to stay on track for the rest of the day. We'll see how that goes - sometimes the pre-menstrual eating gets the best of me... If it does, I have extra yogurt, string cheese, apples, bananas, protein bars, and soy crisps around to (hopefully) keep me from buying the peanut M&Ms from the vending machine...
Breakfast: 1 cup 1% milk in my coffee, 1 raspberry tea biscuit w/ golden raisins
Snack #1: 1 cup low-fat cottage cheese, 4 tbsp. sugar-free preserves, ~1/2 c. sliced strawberries
Snack #2: medium banana, 1 tbsp. peanut butter
[workout #1: lower body strength training, core work]
Lunch: 3.5 oz. broiled salmon, 1/2 c. Uncle Ben's original wild rice
Snack #3: 6 oz. Breyer's Light yogurt w/ 1/3 c. AllBran Buds
Snack #4: 1 slice whole-grain bread, 4 slices of turkey breast, 1 slice low-fat cheese, leaf lettuce
[workout #2: 60 minutes of cardio]
Snack #5: medium apple

I definitely have more gas than before surgery - it invariably starts at 6:30. Usually I get them all out in an hour or so and then I'm done for the day. Kind of weird. Also they usually don't smell (much), there's just a large volume of gas and then its done. No particular food sets it off except a lot of sugar alcohols. I am quite glad I am still less gassy than my husband!
Mmmm, lentils.
Yes I too am usually the offending party. Last night after dinner as usual I get my massive burping episode. My husband was away for school for 7 months while I had surgery and he just recently got back home. when I first saw him I told him I burped incessantly after eating and I was constantly saying excuse me. He told me not to worry about it.
So last night after dinner, I'm doing my normal. They are loud too and one right after the other. I try to hold them in but it hurts. He looks over at me and says "Can't you cover your mouth?" I guess the honeymoon is over. So, the next time I covered my mouth and it was louder than before. And I kept saying excuse me. I think he was irritated, but that's a side affect of the surgery.
i did really good yesterday and today is another day.
Breakfast - South Beach diet high protein cereal bar
Snack - 1/2 serving Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal w/4oz 1% milk
Lunch - ? Probably a salad from Wendy's
Dinner - ? who knows. i have church tonight so it will be pot luck for everyone.

For some reason I have a VERY hard time burping since surgery. Sometimes when my stomach is most upset it ends up I just needed to burp - but it takes hours and several warm beverages to work up that burp. I'd love some big loud stinky belches right about now!
Honeymoons over LOL. Next time he's irritated ask him if he'd rather you farted a bunch?
Nothing worse than stinky smells to wake you up - unfortunately we have 2 Great Dane's sleeping in the room with us (on the floor beside the bed), and every so often they can wake the dead with the smells that come out of them! You cracked me up ... I love gross stories!

Dog gas. OH ugh eeew. My aunt's labradors are sooooo nasty with the gas. They've ruined a few family meals, even curled up in their beds across the room. Just remembering that smell makes my husband's midnight offenses seem sooo much less horrible. Thank you!
You all are so funny.
I live with my hubby and my 3 sons and yes it smells bad most of the time.
we have a white cat and she goes in the boys room and runs back out and looks at me and goes MEOW MEOW i think she is tellin me how bad it smells in there..lol

I don't know if it gets any better, but I can imagine with sons you won't bother anyone, they'll just try to out-do you. My 15 year old brother (and my 4 year old husband) think farts are the funniest thing in the world. Before I met my husband I wouldn't even say such a word (my previous bf tried many times to get my to say it, actually) - now I think they are pretty funny too. Except for really bad gagtastic ones.
