Bra help!
Okay ladies--I need some advice on good bras. I am at the stage where my old bras are just TOO big in the cup area and I am clueless about what are good bras. I used to only have one or two options cause I was so big. But now I have LOTS of options and just don't even now where to begin. I do not like underwire--at all and lace irritates my skin. I am looking for a cotton, soft cup with adjustable straps. I don't want to spend a fortune and I would like something that could last a couple months at least in terms of size so should I get something a little too small? What brand names are good? Thanks!
I buy my bras at Lane Bryant - the only thing I still buy there. I went from a 54 DD to now a 38 DDD.
I spent a morning there trying on every bra in the place. They first measured me, and we went from there. I've never like underwires, but was very amazed that after trying on a zillion different styles it was the underwire that was the best fit and the most comfortable.
I suggest going and getting fitted and trying on many until you find one you like.
Jan beat me to it. I was going to recommend Lane Bryant because they regularly measure you. If you have a Dillards or a Belk department stores (most like them have bra fitting events).
I think that I saw a statistic that says 75% of women have the wrong bra size on whether it be cup or band width. I am pretty happy that it seem like I've stopped losing weight in my breasts. Now they just need to point the way God meant for them to point and not south!
Call around to your department stores to see if they measure you. it's complimentary and don't feel obligated to buy a bra if they measure you.
Oh, honey, they've seen it all and frankly, they won't remember you or your girls after you leave. Trust me. I've been fitted a couple times; the ladies who measured and fitted me were very matter of fact and made me very comfortable with the process. It took me a long time to work up my nerve to get fitted, but I'm really glad I did and I think you would be too!

When you go to get measured wear your best fitting bra - they don't measure you topless. Lane Bryant has some good bras - and underwire is very comfortable IF IT FITS RIGHT. Lane Bryant's soft cups are decent too, and they are stretchy so they seem to last through a size change or two fairly well. I bought a new bra about 6 weeks ago, it was quite expensive (had a coupon) and it is the most comfortable bra I've ever owned - its from avenue and its a seamless lightly padded underwire bra. Unfortunately its getting too big. I actually stuffed the cups the other day because I spent enough that I'd like to get more use out of it. Read up a little on the net about how a bra is supposed to fit - it makes a huge difference in how you look and feel, as well as how comfortable you are.
