On my 30th birthday (12/87), I was living in St. Louis and had just started my career in public health. My 20s were a bit turbulent, if not adventurous, so turning 30 was a good thing for me. I won't say it made me more mature (heck, I'm not mature now!), but I began feeling more focused.
