Blog XPost - 6 Month Surgiversary!!

Today is my six month surgiversary!!  I weighed in at 239 today, bringing my total loss to 130lbs.  I'm wearing a size 22/24 shirt, and that's starting to get baggy (Down from a size 30/32 or 5X shirt).  I fit in a size 22 pant now (Down from a tight size 34).  I didn't take my measurements today but will try to remember to do that this weekend and post it.  I'm maintaining 4oz of food per meal, anywhere from 60-90 grams of protein a day, usually averaging about 80.  I drink 36 to 56oz of water a day.  I could do better on water, but I'm at least meeting the requirements of my surgeon.  I take all my vitamins.  I haven't been as diligent about exercising as I would like to be, but started a new routine on Sunday and I am happy to report that I have worked out three days in a row now.

Here are some of my WOW's:

I have more stamina to walk longer distances without breathing hard
I weigh 1lb LESS than when I first met my husband 8.5years ago - YEAY!
I don't feel enslaved by fast food or un-healthy snacking anymore - I am VERY STRICT about staying away from restaurants or snacks that are trigger foods for me
I'm feeling more confidant
I'm feeling pretty again
I'm feeling "normal" again
I no longer have to use a seatbelt extender in my car
I can cross my legs again
I have collarbones again
I can sit in a restaurant booth again (without the table being a boob rack! - my tummy doens't even touch anymore!)

Funny, once I sat down to write this, I couldn't think of things to list.  Of course I'll think of them once I post this.  HA HA.  :)

Congrats on your surgiversary!   I really love to read how much people accomplish in such a little time and you are no exception.  I really like your goal of staying away from fast food - I ate fast food at least once a day (usually 2 or 3 times a day).  I have vowed that, no matter what, I will never eat food that was handed to me from a window again.  I know that will exclude some things that aren't so horrible (everyone says that you can make healthy choices at a fast food place), but for me, those days are over.  Anyway, I digress from you - keep up the fantastic work.  You look absolutely fantastic!

Way to go, Lauren!  You're doing a great job - keep it up!!!

I'll encourage you on your plan to become more diligent about exercising regularly.  I've been around a while and many long-term post-ops agree that regular exercise is key to long-term maintenance of our loss.  I know that it's key for me, as I still like to eat and exercising helps burn off those calories!  The sooner you can make exercise a regular part of your routine, the better off you'll be in the long run.  Plus, it really does help you feel better - you'll move easier, have more energy, etc.  Lots of benefits, little downside.  Well, except the getting sweaty and gross part, but hey, we can always shower afterwards, right?

Congrats again on hitting this milestone - you are doing a great job!  Please keep sharing those WOW moments!!!!
