I'm impatient and having a pity party
Sorry you are so frustrated. Scrambled eggs give alot of people a hard time. Try them next time as Eggbeaters or just the whites cooked in a pan with Pam & some cheese on top. Don't get discouraged. SOmetimes it takes lots of trial and error to see what will work for you. Only 1 week post op is way too early to have anything BUT total patience. Good luck & vent anytime you need to! HUGS JEanine
Not everyone can get on board with this food item, but one thing I ate quite often as a new post-op was instant Cream of Wheat (made with milk) and then stirred in shredded cheese until it was all melted and smooth. It sat well, was sustaining, and provided protein. Reminded me a bit of cheese grits. I'm impressed you are trying to eat solids already, I think my doctor had us on liquids/clear foods for two weeks, then soft foods for two weeks, then gradually adding in real food as tolerated. Have you considered tasty soups like Japanese miso with tofu? Another excellent source of protein. It gets better. Sometimes I wish I had the issues of not being able to eat, it was almost easier as a new post-op!

Thanks for all of the ideas! I'm really starting to get the hang of it now. In some ways, it seems like the surgery center I went to has so many "non-traditional" ideas on their food plan. I had asked my surgeon about it once and he said that I will "just figure out what's right for me as I go along". They have quite a laid back approach to it which in some ways I really like because I am so independent and have a very busy life so I want to get back to "normal" as soon as possible. Still, their "suggested" meals list has a lot of carbs and a lot of processed foods so I'm trying to find a healthier balance within that and they also have the attitude of "eat it and if it goes over well then that's great, if it doesn't, don't eat it again for a while." The only firm rule that they've put down is NO liquid calories (if it has more than 15cal/8oz then it doesn't go in your pie hole). So, no more soup, no more ice cream, no more milk, no more juice. I might modify that as I move further along, but that would mostly be because SF fudgsicles look so good. :) Otherwise, no liquid calories for me.
But, I must say, I'm happy to be back to solid foods and just taking regular medications. I feel ready to go back to work and to my life again next week. I'm sure that there will be more bumps along the road and I'll need you ladies to vent to, but today I feel good!
