Best wishes with your surgery!  I know it's a pain in the patooty, but you'll feel so much better after it's over.  Of course, you might want to come up with some recurrent "pains" to warrant a visit with the hot doc after it's all over.

We can still get together when I am in Florida if you are up to it.  I'll have a rental car so I can drive to you or your part of town.  What part of town do you live in?  I wish you a speedy recovery.  Hugs, Loris

Oh, it's not a major surgery. I'm right handed so it won't prevent me from driving.  We'll still do something on Sunday!

I am not sure Sunday will work.  If me driving your way will make another day work let me know.  Loris

ouch, I have had a few wrist surgeries a few years ago (6 to be accurate). A little suggestion with the anesthesia. You do not have to go through full anesthesia in a carpel tunnel surgery. You can ask for a "block". What will happen is you get a tourniquet on the upper arm and meds in the arm to block all pain. Then they give you meds to make your sleepy but not the anesthesia crap. You basically will take a nap during the surgery. No tube in the throat and bad recovery with the usual anesthesia. The surgery usually lasts about 45 minutes. You just take a light nap and it is over. Out of all my carpel surgeries this was the easiest and best way for me at least. Ask your Dr. to see if they recommend it for you. If you want to or not. Just a suggestion.

I just wanted to chime in that carpel tunnel decompression was the easiest surgery I have ever had, and as far as instant gratification goes? It was amazing. There was the usual pain from a cut, but when I woke up in the recovery room, it was like someone had flipped a light switch and turned off the buzzing/numbness/carpeltunnelawful. It was completely gone, and all that was there for me painwise was incision pain. You will feel sooo much better. And sleep better. It will be awesome. I had both hands done, 6 weeks apart, and I can safely say compared to the two abdominal surgeries I've had, this is a walk in the park. So worth it. Good luck!
