I am posting this kind of early on Tuesday night because I need to go to sleep soon so I can wake up early and take my husband to work.  I found this bread, mrs. baird's fiber plus bread - its got 7g protein per slice and 6g fiber - its very dense, its not likely I could eat a whole sandwich with it, but a half sandwich with some turkey and cheese would be a decent bit of protein and fiber.  Thought I'd let you know if you are someone who eats bread.  Here's my plan for tomorrow. B - 16oz mootopia, 1 packet nsa cib (240cal, 29g protein) S - 1 large peach (70cal, 2g protein) L - South Beach chicken caesar lunch kit (230cal, 24g protein) S - babybel cheese, fiber one yogurt (150cal, 9g protein) D - bean and cheese enchiladas (550cal, 25g protein) Calories - 1242 Fat - 47g Carbs - 128 (35 of them from fiber) Protein - 89g

Hi, Jen.  Thanks for the info about the bread - I'll see if I can find it here in Cleveland.  I usually have an open-faced turkey sandwich as a mid-afternoon snack and it would be nice to bump up the protein and fiber a bit with this bread.

Here's what's on my plate today - a little variation from my usual, but still within my daily goal/guidelines - edited to reflect final info

Breakfast:  1 c. 1% milk in my coffee, 1 carrot muffin

Snack #2:  medium banana, 1 tbsp. peanut butter

Snack #5:  1 slice whole-grain bread, 3 slices smoked turkey, 1 slice low-fat cheese

[workout #2:  1 1/2 hours hiking - just too nice to be indoors at the gym]

I really had a hard time eating breakfast in the beginning.  Eggs...gross, cheese...gross, I finally started on the Weight control oatmeal for the fiber and the protein.  It has 7g of protein and if you substitute the milk for the water, you can get 13g of protein or even more if you water it down.   There are others who have issues eating in the morning.  I now eat a South Beach Diet High Protein Cereal bar in the morning before the Gym, and then afterwards, usually have a applesauce, or peaches, or sometimes a yogurt.  But I really like my cup of coffee after the gym.  But the SBD protein bar has 10g of protein and I'm a peanut butter freak and the pnut butter one is like eating a candy bar to me. If you don't get any more response, make a new topic and post it.

I usually do liquid in the morning - I've mostly been doing milk with carnation instant breakfast.  I'm waiting on some Click protein, when that comes in 1 serving will have 15g protein (its an espresso and mocha protein powder with added vitamins) - if I add it to my higher protein milk it will be 300cal and 39g of protein for 16oz.  I plan on this being my breakfast for a while.  I am not a big bkfst food person - for instance if I eat eggs I prefer an omelet for dinner.  In the morning sometimes I'll have a piece of fruit or some cheese or both, but usually I'm just better off with liquids.  Some people like to have dinner foods in the morning - chicken or whatever.  I just don't really want food at all!  Sometimes I'll have beans for breakfast though, and they always settle well.  Refried beans and cheese, a staple in my post-WLS life.

I have a question for those who have partners or families: How do you stick to your WLS regimen while cooking for others. I have a hubby who is a "meat and taters" man, about the only veggie he eats is green beans lol. Seriously, is it a problem for you? I am afraid it will be a challenge for me with us each having different meals everyday. Supper time is important to us because he works 3rd shift. I'd us to still be able to sit at the table at dinner without me being resentful that he gets to eat whatever he likes. How does this work out for you all?

I cook for my partner, but I'm not remotely interested in eating her food.  Nothing looks or sounds appetizing to me.  That might change later, but I am in the process of switching ALL of the food in the house to healthier food that I will be able to share with her later :) Tara
