I had great fun downtown all day Monday on the first day of the Democratic National Convention. I spent the day chatting with visitors, walking all over town (5 miles' worth!) and basically enjoyed all the color!
I had the honor of talking with both Mike Barnacle and Dan Rather at breakfast. Both men were gracious and engaging (and I didn't have my cell phone camera out, darn it!).
During the day, I saw James Carville, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper (Hick), Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter, Sen. Mark Warner, Sen. Chuck Schumer, Sen. Joe Biden (shook his hand, woo!), and former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young. I spent part of the day over at the MSNBC location site at Union Station, where I decided right then just how much I miss Tim Russert. Chuck Todd is an azz. I saw several of the MSNBC commentators while I was there.
Tried to get over to the Pepsi Center, but I couldn't get within yodeling distance of the place. The genial fellow at the gate said he'd hate to do a cavity search on me when I couldn't get in, anyway!
Downtown is a zoo, but in a fun way, and hooray for WLS because it has allowed me to walk five miles today and be a small part of history.
I'll post pictures tomorrow. They aren't the best, but you can get an idea of things.
More fun downtown for me today, I'm going to be at "Morning Joe" in the early AM and then spend another day soaking up the fun.

This week has been kind of crazy. I've been very active but not formally exercising. My heavy backpack ought to count for something - I need to throw it on a scale and see how much it really weighs. I'm betting 40lbs. I don't think I'll get any formal exercise until Thurs.
I'd much prefer hanging out with you at the DNC!
