I just need to rant for a bit!

Well...my PC crashed last night! I had just removed AOL instant messenger, yahoo instant messenger and windows instant messenger that my son had put on there, did a virus scan, and then downloaded Windows updates. Last night, I went to reboot to get all the updates active and BAM! Frozen screen. My keyboard stopped working.

Had to pay $49 for them to tell me my motherboard went bad. I'm glad I just got my new laptop in. The new motherboard is $159 and I'm just not certain I'm going to replace it. I can get another laptop for about $500. The PC is 2.5 years old, but all my weightloss progress pictures are on there. It really sucks bigtime!

Then, this morning, I got a phone call this morning from a collection agency. West Florida hospital turned me over for collection from something that they filed at the wrong address with the insurance company and I am tired of fighting with them on it. Collection girl pissed me off too. Can ya'll tell I'm in a BAD mood! My husband better watch out later. I must be PMSing because I want to snack all day too.

That just sucks!  I get really grouchy with computer problems, too.

The evils of technology!  Can't live with it - can't live without it.  I know what a loss it would be for me to have lost the progress pics I have taken in such a short time.  Here's to hoping you know a computer guru who can retrieve those pics for you!!!

I understand d/h paid 900.00 for a laptop with satellite last year i got a few drops of water on the keyboard of course it wasnt covered they said it would be 595.oo to fix it..no way
I had them tell me the problem needed a new keyboard 20.00 off ebay d/hs friend fixed it for free..amazing huh
Also i must be pmsing cause i wonna slap the snot out of someone and i dont care who...

Since the problem was the motherboard, they should be able to pull out the old hard drive and either stick it into another case, like if your hubby has a desktop or else put it in an external case with a cable you can plug into the USB on your laptop. That way you can retrieve your photos and any other files you want to get.

Thanks Patti.  My husband has some computer gurus that said they'd help get that stuff off!

Excellent! My current home PC has my old hard drive in it as well as the new one. Now the problem is remembering where everthing is!
